"Sydney!! Come eat before the bus gets here!" My mum yells from downstairs.
"I'm coming!" I yell as I jump out of my comfortable single bed.
I run to my closet and chuck on my school uniform: a blue and white vertically striped dress that comes to just above my knees. I tie my bright blonde hair back in a loose ponytail and pull little fringes out to the sides of my face. My best friend Lucy Becket says that they compliment my blue eyes. I don't bother with makeup so I go downstairs to eat breakfast."Morning darling," mum says as I walk into the kitchen.
"Morning mum."
I eat breakfast and pack my books and food for school.

As I walk through the black front gates of Adelaide High School I see the curly light brown hair that can only belong to Lucy. I walk towards her and realise she's talking to our friend Jack Peasley. Her brown eyes look really interested in what Jack's telling her and I laugh at his hair. His short brown hair is poking up in every which way and it looks like he's just woken up from a restless sleep, although his green eyes look calm. Lucy hears me and looks over.
"Sydney!!" She screams.
"Hey! Calm down a bit would you? Not everyone needs to know I'm here," I laugh.
"Oh, right. Sorry, I just haven't seen you in forever!" She winks because we saw each other yesterday at school. I smile as I look at Jack.
"Hey," he greets me with a welcoming smile.
"Hi," I say, "what were you ju-"

the school bell rings before I finish my question."What?" Jack asks as we start to line up.
"Don't worry," I smile.
The day passes quickly and soon we're in the last period, in my favourite class, music. I'm lucky to have Lucy and Jack in this class because we work really well together musically. Jack plays drums and his best friend, Dylan Paterson, plays the guitar. They're both amazing and when Lucy and I play with them, well, we're unstoppable! Lucy and I can both sing and play piano/keyboard so we swap around all the time. Today is a bludge as our normal teacher is away so we just play around on the instruments.
"My turn with the mic!" I yell, snatching the microphone out of Lucy's hand just as she's about to start singing.
"Hey! That's unfair," she pouts.
"Sorry but inspiration has struck me and so I have to use it," I explain to Lucy. I look to the boys and say, "give me a beat."
They oblige and soon we've got a song coming along. My mind spins as I try to think of lyrics on the spot. I start off soft.
"It started with a secret..
Now I'm standing here all alone."I start to speed up and get a bit louder.
"No body bel-ieves me..
So I have to start moving on."I sing louder and louder with every word, and add a few different pitches.
"NoBOdies gonna MISs mEe..
So I better stART acting stRONG!"I sing my heart out.
"Whoo hoo!!" Lucy applauds as we come to a close. I curtesy and bow my head and Jack bows as Dylan waves his act off as if it was nothing too good. I laugh at him and he smiles at me, his brown eyes sparkling with joy.
DING DING DING DING
"Got to get home, see you guys," I wave as I head towards the classroom door.
"Bye," Jack and Lucy say in unison.
"Cya," says Dylan.
