Y/N POV-
Tense: present

"(Y/N)! Hurry up!" My friend Gabby yells. "We gotta check some of this stuff out!" Aedan nods in agreement and looks back at me. I run up next to them.

"Okay, but we can't get in trouble and we need to be respectful."

"We know, we know." Aden says and smiles. We run down the hallways of the Hotel Cortez.

"This place is supposed to be super haunted!" I say. Aeden and Gabby look back at me. "Apparently, room 64 is the owners old office. He ended up killing himself in there and it's supposed to be crazy haunted."

"Let's check it out!" Gabby squeals.

"We shouldn't just sneak in!" I whisper-shout.

"But don't you wanna know what's in there?" Gabby replies. I look at Aedan. He shrugs but you can see the worry in his face.

"Fine. Let's go, but only five minutes." The three of us sneak over to the door. "How are we gonna get in it's locked." Gabby pulls a bobby pin out of her hair.

"Of course." Aeden says and rolls his eyes. "Where did we find a friend like you." He chuckles. Gabby uses the bobby pin to open up the door.

"And were in!" She smiles and walks in.

The room smells like dust and alcohol. It's dark and cold. Gabby turns the light on and Aedan and I slowly shuffle in. I shut the door behind us.

"You have five minutes to live your life Gabby." I say and roll my eyes. She grins and starts to walk around the room. Aedan and I stay by the door to make sure we don't get in trouble.

Suddenly, we both here a scream from the bathroom. We walk in and find Gabby's dead body on the floor.

"What the hell..." Aedan whispers and suddenly he gets grabbed by the neck.

"Son of a bitch! Aedan!" I turn around and he's being held by another man.

He's one of the most charming men I've ever seen. His hair is black and slicked back. He's wearing a suit and bow tie. His eyes are a deep brown. My mind snaps back into the moment.

"LET GO OF HIM!" I yell. Aedan trembles as the man lifts up a knife and stabs him in the neck. "AEDAN!" I yell and try to grab him. He fights, but his body starts to weaken. I feel a tear roll down my cheek.

"They didn't deserve to live." The man says. His face is splattered with blood. I walk backwards. "Don't fear me my dear."

"S-stay back! Who are you?!" I say and fall over onto a puddle of blood.

"Why, I'm James Patrick March. The owner of this fine establishment. The one you came looking for." He looks down at me. "The person you talked about. The person who owned the room that you decided to break into without permission." I slide to the back of the wall.

"I'm sorry! It was Gabby's idea! I didn't think she would have a bobby pin to unlock the door! Honest to god!" The man walked in front of me.

"But, my dear... you let her do it still. You were in the wrong." He looks down at me.

"I-I know. I'm sorry. I'll leave and never come back!" I say and tremble. He smiles and then begins to laugh.

"That's the last thing I want to happen. Infact, I want you to stay with me forever." His eyebrows go up.

"H-how do I do that?"

"Why, I kill you of course." He smiles. My eyes widen and I feel another tear fall down my cheek. He puts his hand out and I grab onto it. He lift me up and smiles.

"What if I don't want to..." I say.

"My dear, you really don't have a choice." As soon as he says those words he plunges the knife into my chest. I scream and lean into the wall. I can feel the blood gushing out of me. "I'll see you in a bit." My eyes start to shut and my breath become short. "MS. EVERS CLEAN UP THIS MESS!" Is the last thing I hear him say.

I suddenly awake in the lobby. I look at my hands and then at my chest. I'm not bleeding. I try to run out of the doors, but a force stops me. I try again, but I fail again.

"You can't leave. You're stuck here, with me." I head James say. I spin around only to find him in front of me.

"I'm stuck here... forever?" I ask.

"Yes, you're stuck here forever." He smiles. "I'd like to make you feel welcome though. Meet me at dinner tonight. Meet me in room 30." He smiles at me and I nod, and in a heartbeat he disappears.
