The flight number 345 had been announced. In a few minutes, I'd see Rylie arriving, with her bright red hair and her tan face from the south. I bit my lip, wondering if everything would go as planned. When she'd called, I had been in the middle of murdering one of my numerous oppressors. I hadn't had much time to speak. But now... She was coming home. She was coming back and she was going to be with me.
Part of me wished we never had broken apart first of all, because now maybe things were different forever. When we'd retell our story, we'd have to say we broke up at some point, and it would ruin the magical romance that all erupted from that one dating service.
The doors opened on a flow of people. They all seemed annoyed and tired after their flight, despite the fact that it hadn't been that long compared to the fourteen hours you could have for some places. A blonde woman ran to a petite brunette, an elderly man muttered some unintelligible words to a smaller boy– four or so– and two small girls chatted whilst grabbing their luggage. I exhaled loudly, stress building up. What if she didn't come at the end? What if seeing me finished disgusting her for life?
She wants me. After all this ordeal she still wants me.
Another wave of people rushed out of the doors, like hundreds of ants after you dropped a little syrup in the grass. My heart resumed its thumping.
She was coming, right?
That's when I saw her. Her beautiful firey hair floating around her gorgeous face. She wore a sweatshirt that was three times to big and a nice pair of mom jeans. She was gorge— and she was holding a man's arm. He was a tall lad, maybe close to 6 feet. Instantly, I noticed he stood like a true alpha. Golden skin, fancy brushed back charcoal hair, wearing fancy lawyer type attire, he was the archetype of success and sexy man.
I saw her giggle as he whispered something way to close to her ear. My hands formed into fists and I tried very hard not to run to him and bash his angelic face in. I'll show you success you son of a-!
They approached the luggage dispenser. She glanced over her shoulder and I saw her eyes widen. She let go of his solid arm, and started running to me, passing between the beehive like airport. My throat felt as tight as could be. She was gorgeous. Splendid. Amazing. Perfect. But she came back from our break with another man.
Suddenly, her small self was standing in front of me, her eyes all wet. She was looking at me. She knew something was wrong. She knew something wasn't right.
" JJ..?"
She smiled, trying to keep her cool.
" Aren't you happy to see me?"
I blinked a couple of times and drew a smile on my face.
" I'm more than happy. I'm real real happy!"
I was conscious of the fact that my tone was a little off, but I pretended that wasn't the case. I gently put a hand on her face and smiled. She was back. She came back. She actually came back.
" I've missed you. I really missed you." she said, her voice soft and emotional
I let my hand drop to my side. I wanted to take her sight in and never forget it again.
" You're beautiful."
I heard someone clear their throat.
" Who's that, Ryles?"
It was alpha boy, all glorious in his suit and tie. He put a protective hand on the end of his back, and I stiffened. This wasn't happening. His eyes, the color of hazel, where intensely poised on me.
" This is JJ. JJ, this is.."
He interrupted her and handed me his golden colored hand, like a robotic business man.
" I'm Drake. Drake Hardman. I suppose you two know eachother?"
I chuckled dryly.
" I'm the boyfriend."
His eyes darted towards Rylie. He seemed surprised. She didn't tell him? She cheated on me? She broke my heart? She was this vicious..?
"Drake, when you saw me at the airport I didn't have time to tell you. I'm dating someone. I don't know why you were so... Possessive. It was nice seeing you again though.."
" I thought... I... You seemed so happy to see me again! I thought maybe we'd rekindle what we used to have..."
Drake put his hand over his forehead.
" I'm so sorry... This is awkward. It was great seeing you again. Hopefully you'll call me for dîner sometimes, catch up..."
" No offense man but Rylie isn't dining with your sorry ass anytime soon."
" JJ!"
" Am I wrong? The dude still has feelings for you. A slip up is always so close to happening.. A bit too much booze... No. I'm taking no such risk."
" But..."
" Rylie, we just saw eachother again after way too long."
" We were on a break for long. Are you seriously already being overprotective?"
" You guys were on a break? Diner still..."
" Shut up Drake ! Im trying to speak to my boyfriend. Please leave. I'll call you up for that offer sometimes maybe."
Drake smiled and gently grabbed her hand, deposing his filthy lips on the top of them. He then glanced at me, winked and turned away.
" What the heck was that?" I exclaimed, feeling my heart knocking out of my chest
" What? He's an old friend and you're already being a weird boyfriend after all we already know about eachother! I accepted some hard truths and know you're being a jealous boyfriend? I mean come on!"
" You come down from a plane with a guy that looks like a Greek god and you expect me to be all giddy?"
" Oh! I saw him in the airport while coming down! We chatted! We just communicated! And you're being..."
" The Guy thought you were dating! For the love of—"
" Not my fault! I didn't say anything!"
" You found it normal not to mention me!"
" We literally chatted two minutes and we mostly talked about high school!"
She sighed.
" I can't believe this. I'm calling a taxi. See you... Not now. When I can see your face again."
" You're not calling a taxi."
I grabbed her wrist.
" I am and you aren't doing anything about it."
I yanked her wrist. She grimaced. I pulled her to the toilets, threw her in a cubicle and slammed it behind me. She was in a corner of the toilet cubicle, sobbing. I had been violent and quick and she probably thought I was going to kill her. She wasn't wrong. It looked like it.
" What am I gonna do about it?" I asked calmly, my voice so calm and so untrembling that it frightened me.
" I'm going to make you understand that I love you. I love you and I'm not letting some wannabe businessman steal you from me. I'm not letting you leave me ever again. I love you. Don't you see it?"
My eyes stung. I wanted to cry. I wanted to tell. I wanted to hurt her so she could understand me.
" Look at me! LOOK AT ME!"
She glanced over her hands. She was sobbing, sobbing so hard that her eyes were red and her body was trembling.
" I LOVE YOU! Okay? I LOVE YOU RYLIE!"
She glanced at her wrist. It was red and getting a little swollen. I did this... I did this to my girlfriend. I did this to the love of my life.
" Please understand... All I ever do is out of love..."
" You... I... I know..."
