Hailey's POV

I was so shocked.  I didn't know what to do. So I ran, full speed like my life depended on it. Every so often I glanced up and the branch was still above my head following me. I began to take sharp turns in an attempt to lose the branch, but the stupid piece of wood wouldn't budge. The branch was thick and fully covered with moss. It reeked of pee and it was dripping a yellow colored liquid.   I suddenly remembered what my mom told me before we were attacked,

(Flashback)

"Hales never give up. Nothing is ever what it truly seems. A time will come when you will have no one to help you and you will have to rely on what I tell you. If there ever comes a time, god forbids i die, your family is not around and you have no idea what to do,  I want you to summon me. Hales, baby, I know it sounds stupid and you're probably thinking all those horror movies have finally gotten to my head but I want you to promise me that you will at least try to summon me."

I laughed and looked at my mother like she has gone insane I mean I know we all believe in ghosts and that there all around us but did this woman actually believe that I was really powerful enough that I could summon her? She looked pretty serious so I decided to play along and asked her,

"How mom, how can I summon you or anyone else in that matter?"

           She smiled,

"Hales when the time comes it'll be instinct but it's pretty simple. Just clear your mind and remain calm. Meaning soft and even breaths. Then I need you to picture who you want to summon and picture you slowly tugging them with your hands. I'm sorry I didn't tell you earlier baby but I love you and I've always loved you nothing you've ever done or ever will do would make me not love you. Honey somethings were better left unsaid. I wanted you to have a normal life and that's why you were never exposed to this before.  "

A tear dropped from her face,

"Hales please promise me you will never be a coward and always stand up for what you believe in no matter what?"

I began to tear up because she sounded like she was about to die. I looked up to her and whispered,

"Mom i promise!"

And with that I gave her a hug and we were attacked.

(Flashback Over)

While I was running I noticed a log that was narrow, long, and covered in moss. I almost didn't notice it because it blended in so well with everything else, in addition to the thickness of the mist. I quickly crawled into the log and closed my eyes. I cleared  mind and i began to try to relax which was hard to do because the floating branch was now  raming itself into the log and Bob had somehow recovered and was attempting to crawl to into the the other side of the log. But he was having difficulty because he was so well built.

I decided to clear my mind again and try to have slow and steady breaths. I pictured my mom. I envisioned my self tugging at her hands, as if i was 10 and trying to gain her attention. It didnt work. I was so discouraged. But then I heard my Moms voice around me,

"Come on Hales don't give up I'm almost there."

I was shocked i began to cry. she said,

"Shh Shh baby dont cry... now i need you to focus harder."

Apparently I wasn't the only one who heard my mother's voice because the branch was raming itself into my log harder and at a more vigorous pace, and bob was trying arder and he was also swearing alot more.

"DAMN! Why can't I get in, that bitch is so dead..Ouch I think I just got a splinter. Man I think I will let Jake have a go with this bitch after all!"

Then he began to laugh really loudly, but it came out as a loner laughing at one of the voices he can hear. He sounded like he belonged in some type of stray jacket.

I tired to calm my self which was easier/faster since this was my second attempt. I envisioned this time not only my mom but the rest of my family who was also brutally murdered. I envisioned myself tugging a large oversized piece of rope which was  tied to all of my family, including my unborn  nephew. It stiil didnt work and my log was beginning to crack. I panicked. But i tried harder...I envisioned the same thing but only this time SuperMan was behind me assisting me.

My log cracked and I fell to the ground. The log rammed itself into my stomach. I quckly went flying into the the tree. The last thing I remembered was an overly excited Bob with an Ak-47 in his hand with it's nozzle pointed at my head.
