Kamilah stumbled to the floor and Liliana ran to her aid, It wasn't long before I could feel the stares peircing from all around the room.
I usher to the other side of Kamilah throwing her arm over my shoulder as Liliana does the same, we lift her to her feet in a team effort and start pushing down the hall, each dorm room has 2 bathrooms and they hardly ever available for use.
Shoving the first bathroom door on the right we pull Kamilah inside pushing the drunk couple making out on the sink out back into the hall, closing the door behind them and watching Kamilah plunge to the toilet as her safe haven.
"This was one of my only good shirts you know." Liliana sputtered before holding back Kamilahs hair and joining her at her side.
Glancing down I realize the vomit had somehow made it on both mine and Liliana's shirt, most likely while helping her to the bathroom. Luckily it didn't take long before we could hear the chatter and the party start back up, parties like this never miss a beat.
"I'm so sorry" Kamilah muttered quietly beneath her breath, "no don't worry this happens to my friends all the time." Liliana responded.
"I'm gonna see if I can't find something for her to change into, and maybe a couple shirts for us" I said as Liliana gave me the nod of approval before turning back to care for Kamilah.
After leaving the bathroom and pushing the door closed with my back I made my way down the hall pushing passed the schools famous couples consuming eachothers face and pressing passed the soccer team into the nearest bedroom.
The room had two beds on either side with a shared desk and clothes everywhere, telling by the stench nothing visible should be worn or approached by living beings. To my left I pull open the sliding door of the closet where I find basic polo shirts and white plain T-shirts hanging, "That'll do." I think to myself as I grab 1 white and 2 blue polo shirts, relieving them of their hangers.
"I'm tired and I want to go home." A strange female voice cries from the room next door, the walls just thin enough for me to hear a man's response, "I'm sick of you constantly whining and complaining! Life doesn't revolve around you now shut up, look pretty, and fucking deal with it!"
The harsh tone beats through my body with blistering force, the disrespect, the sheer adrenaline peaking in
my body as I remember a time a woman in my life was always treated as such.5 YEARS OLD
Thunder rumbled throughout the dark deserted plane, A blinking bulb as the only source of light all around, Where a sled lay motionless and damaged. Billowing smoke coming from the rear rising into the endless unknown. Surrounding the sled are piles of dice and dominoes from the wreckage. In the distance a boy calls out, "I found it, it's right over here!" The boy Leopold runs up to the site of the fallen vehicle and turns looking for Rodney his robot. The metal man runs up in his everlasting attempt to catch up, arms flailing around he speaks in a monotone voice, "I'm here, what happened to the sled?"
"I have no clue but look for tools! We have to get it up and running in time to save Christmas!!!" fumbling around the dominoes the robot grasped a metallic wrench in his metal hand, "I found something! What now Leopold?"
Leopold stops, looking around in distress for anything that could get this bad boy in the air. "Look!" Leopold points at 2 rockets laying flat in the clutter.
"Attach a r-rocket!" Leopold stutters as he pushes forward tugging on Rodney to follow, "We have to attach the rocket booster to the back if it's gonna be up and running in time for Santa!"
As Rodney hastily got down on his knees to start attaching the rocket the ground begins to rumble, booming voices filling the space surrounded by nothing but black.
"He is my son and I'll tell you what I can and can not do with him!" One of the giants finishes following with a slam of the only exit.
The dominoes that had just been standing before began to tumble one after the other, falling at full speed towards the sled.
"HURRY!" Leopold screams, "They'll crush the sled! The giants are here to take me!"
Almost on queue Rodney slaps the rocket with his wrench and it comes roaring to life, "You did it! YES!" Leopold jumps with excitement lifting the sled and swinging it around making rocket sounds with his mouth.
His mother picks him up holding on to him as he drops the toy sled, "No what about Christmas!" Leopold calls out hoping to revert back and collect the sled.
"Not right now, we have to go." she leans over collecting the keys giving Leopold the opportunity to pick Rodney up, his action figure, and holding him tight in his arms as she opens the door to the house, exiting into the downpour.
Leopold tucks Rodney away protecting the little guy from the weather. Listening to the thunder clasp shook Leopold to the bone, so he sat still has his mother buckled him into the vehicle. Rodney taking the seat next to him, feeling safer knowing his friend will be joining him on this dark scary journey. Mom slams the door running to the other side and jumping into the driver's seat.
Clearly upset she starts the vehicle as a man exits the house. Leopold turns his head to see his father in full sprint for the van as mom slams the gas and he jumps on the side holding on for dear life. Leopold stares at the window seeing dad screaming into the van begging for Leopold to stay, stay with him for there is so much fun to be had, his raggedy hair now being drenched, water dripping from the window to the point where it was hardly visible to Leopold's eyes.
Leopold jumps as his father starts slamming fists into the glass before jumping off allowing the mother to drive off with her son. Leopold stares out the window at the rain, a tear shedding down his cheek out of fear, wondering what had just happened and why. Knowing in his heart that he and Rodney had failed their mission, and Christmas had been ruined.
PRESENT DAY
The arguing in the room over continued, "whatever, were done!" The female screamed as I heard a door slam over the music, Go her.
Quickly and carefully, I peel the ruined shirt off my back and slide into one of the white shirts and toss the old one into a hamper, maybe that'll mask the stench. Making my way down the hallway slipping past everyone once again I stop at the bathroom door and hear sobbing, It was kamilah.
Careful not to intrude on anything important I set the shirts down on the floor next to the door and walk towards the kitchen, the refrigerator was hiding in a corner next to bar, shelter by a corner wall. It was full of booze and I figured Kamilah was gonna need some water. Grabbing a cup off the top shelf I fill it with water as the 3 boys on the other side of the bar start getting riled up, "chug chug chug" they all chant as Mark a sorority student is on his knees, mouth around a tube with a gargantuas amount of booze traveling down the top entrance.
He manages to get it down before jumping up and everyone cheering for him, "aye tech boy its your turn!"
It took a moment for me to realize his eyes were met with mine. I'm not one to enjoy those types of things, I mean let kamilah be a warning, a lesson, and lessons are best turned into experience.
"I'm alright I have to get this back to Kamilah." He turned walked towards me, "Come on she's fine!" The smirk on his face growing, "besides we insist."
The 2 originally holding the funnel and pouring the alcohol in started towards me as well, I could feel my heart beating. I hate attention much less this kind.
"Seriously guys I'm cool." I spurt out as I go to walk past them targeting the bathroom door before I can feel marks hand grabbing my shoulder turning me back around before shoving me into a wall. "Way to bring the party down." He slurred each word before dumping a banquet can on my head.
I could feel everything in me frozen, not able to move. Frustration built up in my chest and I just wanted to push him back and show him I'm big, but my heart was beating to fast, the adrenaline in me spiking, causing me to shake.
I turn for the front door and run, booking it to my car. The feeling of my knees wanting to collapse beneath me and the sting of beer falling into my eyes. I wipe it away starting my vehicle and drove home.
