Ioni's new year's resolution to find her real father leads to her probably losing her adoptive father, Jeremy.
Chapter 1: New year resolutions"You gotta have a new year's resolution," Shelby told Ioni. She, Ioni and her friends were eating lunch at the cafeteria at Leaguegend. "Won't it be hard for me to come up with one?" asked Ioni. "It's easy," said Jeremy. "Just come up with something. I could tell you mine. My new year's resolution is to impress my teacher in Colliering." "Really?" asked Chad. "Is that really your new year's resolution?" "I really don't know," said Jeremy. "Colliering class starts soon. I think Toasty will be the teacher."
"I've got one," said Grayson. "Why not stop being a crybaby every once in your life?" "What?" asked Jeremy. "You know what I mean," said Grayson. "The audience has seen what you're really like, Jeremy. You're afraid of things, you tremble a lot and cry a lot too." "Don't remind me," grumbled Jeremy. "So what is your new year's resolution?" "To fight someone and won't back down," Jeremy finally answered. "You took on demons!" said Shelby. "Shut up, Shelby!" said Grayson. "I'll bet that he doesn't do it today. He'll get creamed!" "You're on!" Jeremy said to Grayson.
"My new year's resolution is to eat as much meat as possible," said Grayson, biting on a chicken leg. "You love meat, don't you?" asked Shelby. Grayson nodded. "I'd like to take another class this year," said Shelby. "Weather Interpretation or Colliering would be great." "You and I always have to be together," Chad told Jeremy. "You left me behind in certain situations." "I did it to keep you guys safe," said Jeremy. "It hurts me to be without you. We're best friends!" "My new year's resolution is to be with you at all times," Chad said to his friend.
"My new year's resolution is to go on more adventures with you guys," said Brandy. "You want to join us on adventures?" asked Grayson. "You barely come with us at all!" "She's part of the team," said Jeremy. "Why not let her join us on our next adventure?" "I agree," said Chad. "Oh, thanks so much!" Brandy said, hugging Jeremy. "You're always tracking in the forest," said Grayson. "Why would you finally decide to come along with us?!" "Because I've tracked enough times already," said Brandy. "I could be useful and fight some fights." "You're woofing!" said Grayson.
"So, Ioni," said Brandy. "What's your new year's resolution?" "I haven't thought of one," said Ioni. "I'm going to get closer to my boyfriend," Claire said, kissing Jeremy on the cheek. "Flowers and chocolates for you, marshmallow hon!" She gave her boyfriend flowers and a box of chocolate.
"We all said our resolutions," Grayson said to Ioni. "Now tell us yours!" "I....uh...I want...to...," stuttered Ioni. "You want to...?" asked Grayson. "I want to find my real dad," said Ioni. Everyone was shocked when she said this. "But Ioni...," said Shelby. "Your father is dead." "Maybe he isn't," said Ioni. "He's still alive. He wouldn't let poachers get him. "Where is he then?" asked Grayson. "You're the only polar bear here! Hold on! Your holes in your ears are pink now!" "I guess I'm growing," said Ioni. "Ioni, your dad is dead!" said Grayson.
Ioni eyes welled up with tears. "Are you gonna cry?" Grayson asked, sarcastically. "Are you gonna cry like a little cry baby?" "How could you?!" Shelby angrily asked Grayson. "She's being a baby about it." "Don't cry, Ioni," Jeremy said, comforting his daughter. "It's going to be alright." "Sweetheart, you have nothing to worry about," Claire said to Ioni. "Doesn't a place hold a polar bear?" asked Brandy. "Besides a zoo?" asked Chad. "Where else could we find one?"
Just then, Malacai joined them. "Hey guys! I couldn't help but overhear you guys talking about finding a polar bear in a place," he said. "I know where you would find a polar bear. There's a place called East Pines. Inside a cave, you'll find a polar bear."
