THE NEXT morning, I wake up and don't get out of my bed for at least another good hour. I just lay there lazily awake and warm. The sun lights up my room from behind the curtains.
It's sunny?
Yawning I sit up, hunched over. I stretch when I stand and get dizzy for a second. Walking over to the window; I look through it and still see snow but the sun and blue skies are out. Cool. That moment didn't last long though.
My head snaps to the bathroom door, when I hear a loud thud and curse words. Quickly I walk to the sliding door and push it open real fast. A dark blonde haired girl with blue eyes snaps her head in my direction. She lets out an ear piercing scream, making me jump back and scream at the same time. I wave my hand in front of me, signaling her to stop.
It's quiet again. "Who are you!" she demands.
"Me? why are you in my bathroom!?" I fire back.
I look behind her and see the door that was locked for me, is now open. "Who are you?" I question, finally getting up from the floor. "I'm Solana and listen chick, I know I'm fourteen but I can fight." she balls her fist up and puts them in front of her. "I don't want to fight you." I laugh making her frown. "Who are you?" she asks the same question. "I'm Neva and this is my dads place." I tell her. A look of confusion crosses her face, but it's gone just as fast. Then she snaps her fingers. "You're my half sister." she smiles. I blink.
Once.
Twice.
"Why do you have blue eyes then?" I mentally slap myself for asking that.
She shrugs, "genetics man, I popped out and our dad thought I was another mans baby." she laughs and so do I. It's weird hearing her say, our dad. Now I have a younger sister and this was not how I was planning on meeting her. "Trust me, I know what you're thinking." she looks at me for a second. "You do?" I say. "Food." she shrugs. No but I am hungry.
"I think you and me will get along just fine." Solana says. "Can I just call you Lana or something else?" I walk back into my room. "Yeah, call me Lana, sis, munchkin." she names a few others and I chuckle. She stands behind me as I brush my hair out and put it into a bun. I watch her french braid her hair, like it's easy; she does it quickly before tying it off. "What?" she asks me. "You have to teach me that." I say and she nods. Having a little sister will be fun.
"I'm so glad we don't hate each other." I sighed and went to open my door. "Me too sis, me too." I smile at her when she calls me sis. We hit it off right when we talked. Lana follows closely behind me, I turn into the living room. "Good morning boys." I yelled. "Neva, who are they?" Lana whispers. "They're my friends, don't worry." I tell her.
They both groan and Chandler hides his head under the pillow. "Lana, do we have mangoes?" I ask. "Yeah but not a lot, why?" I don't reply to her. "Chandler, we have mangoes! I'll eat them all if you don't get up." Lana looks at me weirdly. Then Chandler springs up.
This boy and his mangoes. I grin and look at Lana, who's drooling. I pat her cheek to snap her out of it. "What?" I question. She nods her head over my shoulder. I look back at Chandler, he's fine. Then I look at Phoenix, then back to Lana, then snap my head back to Phoenix.
"Phoenix!" I yell and cover Lana's eyes with my hand, who's trying to pry them off. His eyes snap to mine and then to my little sister. "Put a shirt on!" I squeak out and pull my sister back out of the room. "Nevaaa." Lana fusses.
I finally pull her into the kitchen and take my hands off her eyes. "Is that your boyfriend?" she says. I shake my head repeatedly no. She smiles innocently at me. "He's not yet anyways." she sing songs. I groan and go to smack her on the head, but then Mandy walks in. I pull back and glare at Solana.
