Everything and Nothing

In the heat only August can bring, a girl lays in the shade of a maple tree. She peeks through the green foliage of leaves, straining her eyes until she catches sight of the brilliant sun hanging lazily in the azure sky.

"What are you staring at?" she hears a voice ask. Turning her head, she sees her lover propped on her elbows, one eyebrow raised, lips quirked up in a smile. Dark curls frame her face, and the girl caresses her lover's cheek.

"Everything and nothing," she says.

There's silence. Then-

"...That makes no sense."

The girl laughs.

"Maybe."
