It was the night the dorms were opened, and the students who went to rescue Bakugo were effectively chastised for their risky plan, so to lighten the mood, everyone checked out each other's rooms. The other students were relieved to see Bakugo returned safely, especially Deku, who wanted nothing more than to make sure he was safe. However, something didn't feel right; Deku was beginning to feel weak and tired more so than usual. He brushed it off as just an adrenaline crash from everything and went back to enjoying the night with his friends. "W-wait! Not my... room..." he exclaimed as his face burned red as everyone saw just how big of an All Might fan he is. The girls all giggled and assured him his room was perfectly fine with mild teasing.
After the game was over, Tsuyu asked to speak to the ones who went to save Bakugo where she broke down in tears as she confessed she felt like a failure for not effectively deterring them from taking such a risk, to which everyone assured her it wasn't her fault. "That's why I didn't take part in tonight.... I didn't feel worthy to..." "Tsu... were the ones who are sorry.. I didn't mean to upset you.." Deku said softly as he hugged her, "But you did all you could... You can't blame yourself for things out of your control..." Tsuyu sniffled and nodded before everyone went back inside and to bed, everyone but Deku resting easy; he couldn't help but feel something was wrong, but still he chose to brush it off as exhaustion. Eventually, however, he succumbed to the sleep creeping up on him, and he could only dream of one day being the Number 1 Hero and telling g Bakugo exactly how he felt about him, how he adored him with every fiber of his being. This dream, of course, always made him smile in his sleep; however, all too soon, his alarm went off signaling a new day.
Groaning and rubbing his eyes, he slowly got up and began getting ready for school, seemingly perfectly fine, and once ready, he joined his friends to walk with them. Along the way, the trio laughed and joked about this and that, and Deku wished that moments like these would never end. Just in time for the bell, Deku, Uraraka, and Iida arrived, "I told you two that stopping for breakfast instead of eating before leaving was a bad idea!!" "We know, we know Iida... but we still got here in time..." Deku replied with a soft smile. Iida sighed in exasperation then found himself seated in his desk, the others following suit. Their first class was All Might's class, and after taking roll, he instructed them to change into their PE uniforms, "let's warm up with some honest sparring to get the blood flowing!!" Everyone quickly changed except Deku, who suddenly felt a pang of dizziness, catching the attention of Bakugo, "OI!! Stop slacking off you damn nerd!" Deku merely looked over at Bakugo apologetically and tried to change faster as Bakugo left for the training field.
Once finally out there, he found that everyone had already been given partners, and his partner was none other than Bakugo himself, "Dont think I'm going to go easy on you just because you helped me escape, Deku!" "I.. I wouldn't plan on it..." Deku replied with a smile. He swayed slightly, catching both All Might's and Bakugo's attention. "Young Midoriya, are you feeling unwell? If you are then you may be exempt." Deku shook his head, "I'm fine... Besides, heroes dont get sick days..." All Might nodded, "just dont push yourself too hard. Begin!" Bakugo immediately leapt at Deku ready to spark an explosion in his face, but right as Deku moved to block, his eyes went blank and he collapsed to the ground. Bakugo froze in confusion until he saw how pale Deku was, "Shit... Teach I'm taking him to Recovery Girl!!" He then picked up Deku and rushed him to Recovery Girl, who immediately called an actual doctor to come check out Deku.
"It may take awhile for him to arrive.. Do you wish to stay with him?" Recovery Girl asked. "Tch. Just until the damn doctor gets here," was the reply from Bakugo, who before long began to pace impatiently, "How long does it take a shitty doctor to get here..?" He looked over at Deku then he walked over and sat on the bed for next to him, "You better be okay, ya damn nerd..." Soon enough, footsteps were heard, and Bakugo jumped to his feet. It was the doctor! 'It's about damn time... Hurry up and find out what his problem is...' Bakugo thought. "I apologize it took me so long to get here, Recovery Girl.. I had another patient.." he explained, at which the elderly woman waved, "Don't worry, Carlile.. Let's just get those tests run.." Dr. Carlile nodded and immediately went to work. To Bakugo, it felt like eternity before the results came back from his blood and bone tests, and Recovery Girl gasped, "No... At such a young age...?" "It can strike anyone regardless of age... I've already contacted his mother to meet with us... This will not be easy for her to hear..." Recovery nodded sadly until Bakugo chimed in, "Well?? What's the issue Doc??" Heasked with a hint of worry in his tone. The doctor's eyes softened and he rests a hand on Bakugo's shoulder, "Young man, I'm sorry.... But your friend... He.. he has cancer.. terminal cancer to be exact..." Everything around Bakugo seemed to just stop and stand still, "He has WHAT??" "He has terminal cancer.... Young man, I'm sorry... But your friend is dying..." Bakugo's eyes widened as the realization hit: the boy he was secretly in love with..... was dying... 'This can't be happening.....' was the only thought replaying in his mind.
