"Please just stop," pleaded Alexandria as she read her book in the corner on a bean bag.
"Why? So you can pretend you actually enjoy that book. You know that school has ended; you don't have to read. Unless, of course, you're a nerd with no social life," I said while playing Call of Duty on the maximum volume.
Alexandria stood up, and started walking towards me with anger evident on her face.
People always said that we looked like twins but we never agreed with that statement. Sure we were the same height and we shared similar body features like our hair color and our nose shape, but what did you expect from siblings.
She had green eyes; I had grey eyes.
She was tall and slender; I was short and stout.
She had long, straight hair; I had short, curly hair - granted we both had raven black hair.
Alexandria was suddenly behind me and was about to hit me when we heard our mother calling us for dinner. I sprinted away from the frustrated Alexandria when suddenly I was plunged into a sea of black.

I woke up in a cold, colourless room filled with nothing but a decayed wooden bench and a single window, providing the only light, on the titanium door. From the lack of light in the room, I assumed it was the middle of the night.
"Welcome back to reality," Alexandria said as I rose from the cold, wooden floor.
Compared to my dream, she was skinnier. She also had deep bags under her eyes and cuts and bruises on her skin. I probably looked worse but I wouldn't know for there is no mirror in this prison of ours.
"How long was I asleep?" I asked.
"About 5 hours," she replied.
"Alex, I told you to wake me up after 3 hours!"
"You seemed so peaceful, Benjamin. The most peaceful you have been in months," She said while walking towards the door determined to stare at the full moon.
Not wanting to argue anymore, I said something I probably shouldn't have said: "I dreamt of our old life." She turned abruptly from the door and walked towards me.
"You did what?" she asked with worry in her voice.
"You heard me, Alex. I dreamt of Mom. It was that time you were reading a book and I was playing Call of Duty and you wanted to hi-" but before I could continue, I heard Alexandria crying.
Soft and silent at first but when I moved towards her, she started to sob violently.
"Shhh, Alex, it is going to be okay. Everything is going to be okay." I whispered into her ears as her head was on my shoulder.
All I could do was hold her and whisper empty promises throughout the night.
