John Watson had already pocketed his phone, not knowing he’d received the last text. He sprinted up the staircase to 221B, bursting in the door, clutching his Browning tightly in his hands. Imagine his shock at seeing Sherlock perched on the table, squeezing his mobile phone and staring at their refrigerator.
“Sherlock?” John hissed in confusion, fear, and anger. Sherlock, with a fearful look in his eyes, pointed at the fridge. John looked over it and saw nothing out of the ordinary, raising an eyebrow at the consulting detective as he pocketed his Browning.
“What was the emergency, Sherlock?” he asked, walking over to stand by the table. Sherlock opened his mouth to speak up, when a gigantic spider crawled out from under the refrigerator and began crawling at a shockingly fast pace towards John. John saw the spider and let out a scream, jumping up onto the table with Sherlock.
“That thing is bloody huge!” he yelled, staring at the spider as it continued its journey towards to table. It stopped when it reached one of the table legs, beginning to climb up it. Sherlock leaped from the table and took off towards his bedroom, slamming the door behind him.
“Sherlock, don’t leave me!” John wailed, jumping off the table and running to Sherlock’s room, banging on the door.
“Let me in, Sherlock! Let me in!” he pleaded, watching as the spider seemed to change its mind and crawl back down from the table, skittering down the hallway towards John. John watched it with fear, yelping in surprise when Sherlock pulled open the door and quickly yanked him into the bedroom.
“What do we do?” Sherlock asked, slamming the door shut again, twisting the lock, not that that would really help.
“Hang on,” John said, pulling out his mobile phone. He typed in a few numbers and put it on speaker phone.
“Hello?” Lestrade’s voice came through the phone. Sherlock snatched the phone away from John, yelling into it.
“Lestrade, there is a spider in the flat and it is going to kill us!” he yelled, Lestrade swearing at how loud Sherlock’s voice was.
“Bloody hell. Calm down, Sherlock. A little spider is not going to hurt you,” he said, sounding amused at the situation.
“Really? Then you come kill it!” Sherlock growled. John was watching the door, gasping when he saw the spider wriggling under the door and into the room.
“SHERLOCK, IT GOT IN!” he screamed, jumping up onto Sherlock’s bed, the only place relatively higher up off the ground. Sherlock saw the spider and also leaped up onto his bed.
“Lestrade, come kill it!” he commanded, watching as it crawled under the bed. John froze.
“Oh God, oh God, oh God,” he repeated fearfully. “Sherlock, it’s under the bed.” Sherlock kept the phone pressed against his ear, even though it was on speaker, as he waited for a response from Lestrade.
“Oi, you idiots can’t go one day without causing trouble, can you?” Lestrade’s voice came from the flat. Sherlock threw John’s phone back at him, ending the call.
“Lestrade, we’re in the bedroom!” he called, hearing' footsteps approach the bedroom and a hand wiggling the doorknob.
“I can’t exactly help if the door is locked, can I?” he said, his voice sounding agitated, though amused. John hesitated before springing off of the bed and booking it towards the door, unlocking it and pulling Lestrade inside as Sherlock had done to him.
“Now, where’s the spider?” Lestrade asked, rolling his eyes. John eyed the bed, watching as the furry beast ran out from under the bed, right towards Lestrade and himself.
John yelled and ran around the room, right to the window. He opened it and climbed out onto the fire escape, motioning to Lestrade and Sherlock to get over there.
“Bloody hell, that thing is not a spider!” Lestrade yelped, maneuvering around it like John had, joining him out on the fire escape.
“Spiders cannot physically be that large!” he said, his eyes huge as he took in the size of the arachnid.
“Apparently this one can! Now, come on, Sherlock! Get your ass over here before it kills us all!” John hissed, eying the spider that seemed to be attempting to join Sherlock on the bed. Sherlock went to climb off the bed and go towards the fire escape, but his foot got tangled in one of the sheets, causing him to fall off his bed and face plant on the floor.
“Sherlock, it’s coming!” Lestrade yelled. Sherlock barely managed to untangle himself from the sheet before the spider jumped at him.
“Go, go, go, go, go!” Sherlock ordered, joining the two other men on the fire escape and slamming the window shut. The spider ran over to the window and perched on the windowsill. It almost looked like it was smiling at them.
Lestrade led the way down the fire escape, John and Sherlock on his heels. When they made it to solid ground, they were all panting.
“Well, that was fun,” Lestrade said sarcastically. His frown of fear changed to a devious smirk.
“Have fun killing that thing. You need to if you want back in your flat. After all, didn’t it crawl under the door to get into the room?” he said, grinning as he hailed a cab.
“Good luck!” he called, climbing into the cab and shutting the door, the taxi driving off. Sherlock turned to John.
“You are killing it.”
“You are killing it.”
They spoke at the same time, glaring at each other. Then, Mrs. Hudson’s voice rang out from up in their flat.
“Boys? I’ve made you some tea,” she called, not realizing they had gone, or that there was an evil spider claiming their flat. After a quick exchange of looks, they booked it into 221 and up the stairs, yelling to their landlady.
“Mrs. Hudson, get out of the flat!”
