The Term: EMO
The amount of times this has annoyed me would be incredibly un-realistic to so many people. First off, I would like to point out that yes I do understand what I'm talking about and have thought about this several times and quite thoroughly. No, I don't expect anyone or anything to change if anyone has ever read this, these are written for the sole purpose of writing, getting my emotions and frustrations out.
Getting back onto to topic.
I listen to rock music, listen to emo music, post hardcore, punk rock and many sub genres located in the general genre of what is classified as "rock".
I have been called emo, but that isn't what bothers me. How people use the term emo and people who claim to be "emo"
I would like to point out that firstly, emo is not a term to be used as to determine an individual's personality or who they are.
"Emo" is simply a sub genre. Nothing more and nothing less. Even if it were to be considered as a personality I would still consider that as judge-mental and rude. "Emo" mean emotional, and what offends me is that it makes absolutely no sense. This is how I see it, lets say you were to call someone emo, and here's what I would say. You don't even know what emo means. Wouldn't that mean that a person has emotions, and aren't you saying that they are only human. Why, aren't they allowed to be human, have emotions.
But that's not what people mean. They use it as a gesture or judgement, because someone wears black, listens to rock music, the likes. That also includes the term goth. Goth is over used and judges a person in the wrong way. Goth is when you wear frilly clothes, such as a more modern style of victorian clothes. Its not just black, or dark colors. People don't realize how so many people take this as an insult and don't realize what it can do to a person. Not everyone gets offended, but even so, you have no right to judge someone like that.
People don't really realize how much words can affect a person and who they are and what they do.
Even so there is nothing wrong with wearing black, listening to rock music, because its just who they are and how they like to dress. I mean you see people wearing pink, white, why are you so quick to judge someone wearing black. Black is only a color, and if a person likes it than so what, let them like it. It shouldn't be a big deal.
