The fox and the wolves

                                                             

Somewhere deep in the woods near the lake lived, a red fox named Todd. Now Todd was a playful, smart, and young fox that everyone in the forest loved. They say he stood up for the kids, supported others, and would always lend a helping paw.

  Well, one peaceful day in the forest; Todd was helping a family of chipmunks into their new home. When he over heard someone say. “Well, well. Look here boys. Looks like we have a little snack.” 

Todd decided to walk over to the voices. As he got closer he saw a pack of wolves surrounding a family of rabbits. He quickly got between the two groups. 

“Stop!” He said

“There’s a dead deer north of here; eat that instead and me tomorrow.” Todd said trying to get the wolves to leave

“Oh really…well we’ll return for you tomorrow.” The pack leader said leading the rest to their food.
Todd’s head dropped with relief, and turned around to the rabbit family to check on them. They were fine and scurried off to home. He decided to do the same and walk home. As he walks; he thought of a way to save himself.

“I know I’ll have them chase me over death log” he said entering his burrow.

“Yep, I’m light enough to make it across, but all those wolves are sure to fall down. I’ll be safe and so will all the other small animals.” Todd said falling asleep.

On the next day, Todd went to the spot where the wolves would show. He waited until he heard a snarl come from behind. He jumped back and prepared himself for the run.

“Well he actually showed up boys.” The alpha said barking in Todd’s face.

“Yep and catch me if you can bone breath.” Todd said slapping the alpha in the face and running passed the rest.

“Ouch! Get him boys!!” the alpha said as they began to chase the fox. 

Todd ran for his life as he neared the log. The wolves caught up fast, and surrounded him at the log’s edge.  As they got closer, he backed up onto the log and rushed across to the other side. 

“Ha. I’m over here.” he said with joy.

“You little brat.” the alpha said as they climbed onto the log and walked toward Todd.

“You can’t touch me, and could you say hello to my new friend karma for me.” Todd said laughing at the wolves.

“I’ll have your h-“he was interrupted by the sound of the log snapping in half underneath them. 

“Ah!!!” They all yelled falling to their doom.

Todd looked over the edge to see if any survived. None did, so he decided to walk home and enjoy his life. As he walked, he walked passed the rabbit family. They waved him down, and gave him a small basket filled with berries.

“Thank you. Those wolves have been threatening our family for a while, and now they are gone.” one of the rabbits said

And without words Todd lies down, closed his eyes, and smiled. Not long after the rabbit family leaned across his body and did the same, and they all went to sleep.
