Gwen froze hearing those three words leave Charles's lip. Her heart thumped loudly in her chest, she knew for a fact he could hear it.
"Really?" She questioned, she was still in shock. She looked up at him with watery eyes, she was growing emotional.
All Gwen ever wanted was a man who accepted her for her, and accepted her for all her flaws. A man who respected her and reminded her off her worth. A man she could enjoy corny jokes and childhood stories with. A man who was financially, emotionally, and mentally stable. A man who could please not only her body but her mind. A man who has never been married or had any children. As you can see, Gwen knew what she wanted, she refused to lower her standards or to settle which is why she was single for so long.
But somehow Gwen found everything she wanted in a man with Charles.
He was everything she's been waiting for in her life, she felt like he was the missing piece of her puzzle. And to hear him say he loved her made her heart melt.
She was speechless so he continued, "You're different than anybody I ever had a relationship with in the past. Just the sight of your smile alone brings joy into my life. You're special and I knew that the first day I laid eyes on you. I heard you were beautiful, but when I met you, you literally took my breath away. Then I got to know the real you, and your personality is golden. I don't know when I fell for you but I'm over hills for you, Gwen." He explained causing Gwen to grow extremely emotional.
"Don't cry," He chuckled at the emotional facial expression that was plastered on beautiful face.
"I'm going to," She warned before releasing the tears, he chuckled and wrapped his arms around her. She laid her head on his chest and released tears of happiness.
A few moments later, she was more calmed and relaxed.
"You know before I met you.. years ago I was in a toxic relationship but I loved him.. well I thought I did. Then I met you and finally found out what real love felt like and I'm so scared because you got my mind and my heart. I've been in love with you but I'm scared of being hurt again."
He listened, "I'm not going to hurt you and I know you've probably heard that a million times," He said watching a smile appear on Gwen's face.
"But I'm going to show you," He replied. "You got me Gwen and like I've been telling you over and over.. I'm serious about you. I'm not trynna waste my time or yours."
"You're saying.. we have a shot at forever?" She asked looking up at him with hopeful eyes.
"That's my goal."
After the couple had their deep conversation, they found their way upstairs in Charles bed and made love. It wasn't rough nasty sex like they usually had but it was gentle and passionate. To Gwen's surprised, she actually enjoyed it better than the sex she thought she loved because that was all she knew.
The following day, the sound of a Stacy ringing Gwen's phone back to back finally woke Gwen. She looked around the enormous bedroom realized Charles was gone.
She knew he left for work, he had a big day today.
Gwen leaned over and picked up her phone, she placed it to her ear making it automatically answer.
