-Chapter one-

it's Sunday morning and I'm sitting in the local coffee sipping at my drink. My tongue stings with the hot taste of burnt coffee.I am almost done proof-reading my story to send off to the publisher. The bell above the door shop jangles and I look up interrupting the place I was editing in the story.

The bell jangles as I walk into the coffee shop as I'm about to start my shift, there's not too many people in the shop but this one girl in the corner of the shop.

Theres not many people in the shop but this one girl catches my eye its the brunette girl in the corner of the Shop and she looks at me shyly, as I look back in her direction. I look away quickly, embarrassed is there something on my face?! I wonder worried.

a few minutes as pasted and its too late, I've realised i'm staring... I look back down quickly and as I look down I hear a crash.

I have just started my shift have have already messed up I drop a take-away cup of coffee by accident.

The person behind the counter has just dropped a coffee and its spilt everywhere over the floor.

i'm about to cry, my internalised thought has got me thinking why am I so clumsy and as I look up the brunette girl from the corner of the shop is crouched down beside me to help me clean up the spilt coffee on the floor with some paper towels in her hand she grabbed from somewhere whilst I had been trapped with my thought a bout being clumsy.

We both start to clean up the mess, I grab the mop from behind the counter and started to wipe up the access coffee left over from the spill. I continue to help the girl wipe up the rest of there coffee on the ground vaguely forgetting to introduce myself to her but I remember right before we had finished cleaning it up.

"hey i'm harper"

I smile as I continue to wipe up the coffee on the ground, forgetting where the bin is in the shop I asked a stupid question hoping she won't look at me weirdly and try not to make a fool of myself...

"where would you like me to put these?"

she replies

'' oh, just in here will be fine.''

she pulls out a disposal plastic bag from her pocket, I put the wet soggy paper towel in the plastic bag.

"Hey i'm sorry I didn't introduce myself before"

" im Ash, nice to meet you''.

I repeat myself yet again because i'm so caught up in her warm bubbly personality

"hi Ash, I'm Harper, nice to meet you"

we then smile at one another and as we slowly walk we lock eye contact before fully turning away, I walk away and let out a sigh' back to my table where I was sitting before helping Ash wipe up the coffee, I finish my editing for my book that is soon be to published for pride month, I take the last sip of my now lukewarm coffee.I slowly gather my things and pack them away into my dark olive green side bag, swung it over my shoulder and then walked out the door leaving my empty orange coffee cup on the table. I then head home to organise my things for an up coming book signing I have for my book.

I've just finished my work shift for another day, making one last coffee for my trip home as the last few drops of coffee fall, pour the freshly frothed milk into the take-away cup and put the lid on. As I let go of the cup the song "Story Of My Life" plays over the stereo and they only thing I can think of is the kind sweet hearted girl I met a few hours ago, and the conversation we had, how I wished I had asked for her number or at least smiled at her just that little bit longer.

I grab the mop and as I start to clean the floorboards start and dance around the store as i'm the only one left, as I do so I begin to reminiscing over the event that happened early and how sweet she was.The song started to fade out as I brushed the mop along the floor cleaning it one last time. I put the mop away, grab my things and my coffee and head out the door hearing the bell jangle one last time for the day and lock the door behind me.
