Creativity is Madness

The artist and the madman are in the same waters. The only difference is that the artist surfs the waves while the madman drowns. Then there are some who never truly return, yet they have never completely left... they are stuck between being gods of their own universe and the empty, unsatisfying reality.

You could say, "But at the end of the day the artist does become depleted, the artist is sacrificing himself to part of the madness to bring back those visions of creativity."

But that isn't necessarily the case. Life is about expressing your creativity, and when I am unable to do that, that is when I feel that I am sacrificing part of myself.

The oldest and simplest form of creativity is meditation. Meditation is all about the breath, conscious awareness and being in the present moment. In the yoga world, some people call it "being in your nowness." It would make sense that then you would induce a creative flow state.

Some people feel as if everything around them doesn't matter. But that's because you aren't living life to its full potential. Joseph Campbell once said, "The agony of breaking through personal limitations is the agony of spiritual growth."

Scitzophrenics have too much creativity. They have too many possiblilities flowing through their head. They are drowning from seeing too much. Their ideas stretch beyond their compatibility and drive them insane.

The depressed have too little creativity. They feel like the walls are caving in around them. They feel like their is no other possibilities but the one that they are in- and the one that they are in sucks.

And then everyone else usually falls in somewhere in the middle.

Every life is important. If you just express yourself to creativity and know that their are more possibilities at every turn, then you will ultimately be brilliant.

Some people use the word madness in different instances. The mad girl with freakish ideas, and the mad people who create fantasy films. One is positive and the other is negative.

The only difference is that one is looked down upon for their ideas, and the other is praised.

Good things and bad things aren't necessarily how they seem to be. A person can make an amazing song, and only be a one hit wonder. Someone can break their leg, but the bone heals back twice as strong.

"The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don't always soften the bad things. But the bad things don't necessarily spoil the good things or make them unimportant." -The Doctor.
