Chapter 20: The Final Battle

      "What are you gonna do with me?" Zerlina asked nervously as Dacia approached the cage.

"You are the perfect weapon for my source of power." She said as she brushed her hair. "Your mother's a failure and your friends too."

"What?! I thought the Astro-Zodiacs would come to save me!"

"They're dead, girl. This time, I'll kill you."

Dacia snapped her fingers as the ceiling opened to reveal the dark sky above her tower. A whirlwind made of smoke is revealed and is ready and loaded to suck Zerlina as she gasped in horror before struggling to get out. In the cell, Shanda woke up and realized that Zerlina is in trouble and is about to be killed.

"Zerlina..." She said as she awoke her friends. "Guys! Zerlina is in danger!"

"Danger? But she's killed." said Candy.

"No, she's not! She's still alive! Zerlina is Lariah's daughter, remember?"

"Yes, we know." said Argus.

"Zerlina was captured during our journey. She's our friend and she's gonna be used as a source of dark power for Dacia because of us! We must save her and we have a option; Bring her to the Zodiac World or return to earth with her."

Realizing what Shanda said to them, the Zodiacs got up with determination as they looked at each other with agreement. "you're right, Shanda." Candy brushed her hair as she pulled her pants up. "We can do this."

"Let's be awesome and Zodiac!" said Claribel.

"That's right!" said Lina and Gina.

"Hands in the middle everyone!" Helene put her hand in the middle as her friends stacked each hand on top of the other. "Taurus!"

"Gemini!"

"Leo!"

"Cancer!" said Ted.

"Scorpio!" said Argus.

"Libra!" said Candy.

"Sagittarius!" said Tasha.

"Capricorn!" said Mort.

"Aquarius!" said Mike.

"Virgo!" said Walt.

"Aries!" said Abby.

"and Pisces!" said Shanda.

"Let's do this!!!" They all cheered as they used their powers to free themselves. However, the Dacia clones noticed and prepared to stop them, only for being headbutted by the magic rams.

"Wow! That was cool!" said Tasha as another Dacia clone dragged her by the arms. She struggled to free herself and started to run away before retrieving her removed jacket and put it on.

"That's a nice plea, Shanda." Abby punched a Dacia clone with her fist to defend herself. "What do we need now?"

Later on, Zerlina is still struggling to get out, trying not to be sucked by the whirlwind. "Dacia! This is crazy! I don't wanna die!"

"Yes, you can! I want that whirlpool to suck you right now!" Dacia shouted.

"What about my friends? The Zodiacs are coming!"

"No, they aren't..."

All of a sudden, the Zodiacs showed up in the hall, ready to take down Dacia. "You can't do that, Dacia." said Shanda.

"Shanda! What a shock!" She said as she put her hand in her hip. "Give it up, Zerlina is a goner."

"She is not a goner!"

"Yeah! She is Lariah's daughter!" Abby crossed her arms.

"I have two things to say; One, you killed my father. And two, I'm going to avenge him!"

"Oh, right, right. But, you're responsible for defeating her mother!"

"Oh, yeah? Let's fight."

"Shanda! Be careful!" Zerlina encouraged.

The Zodiacs and Dacia stared at each other face to face. The battle began as they unleashed their powers while Dacia summoned her clones to defeat them. The group shouted every time they said: "Aries!" Abby shouted as the magic rams headbutted the clones into the whirlpool, killing and striking them with lightning. "Taurus!" Helene summoned some bulls to kill three Dacia clones, who tried to defend herself by pulling some red clothing to make a bullfighting scene, to no avail. "Gemini!" Lina and Gina shouted as she summoned some magic twins to punch the Dacia clones into the whirlppol. A twin punched another clone before punching the other one behind him. Enraged, Dacia started to shoot dark fireballs to attack Shanda, who defended herself by summoning fishes to destroy the fireballs.

"You don't know how to quit, do ya?!" Dacia shouted.

"I have four words for you: Leave Zodiac World alone!" Shanda told her as she kept summoning fishes.

"I won't let you ruin my plans!"

"Libra!" Candy summoned some balance scales and threw two of them at two Dacia clones, destroying them.

"Nooo!! My clones!!" Dacia was horrified as she growled and snapped her fingers to allow Zerlina being sucked by the whirlpool.

"Zerlina!" Shanda was shocked as she snapped her fingers to tell Abby. "Abby! Zerlina is being sucked! I'll save her!"

"But, Shanda-"

"Trust me!"

"I...I...." Abby stammered as she reluctantly nodded and let her cousin to save Zerlina. "I trust you, cousin."

When the rest of the Zodiacs kept fighting, Shanda decided to free her friend from the cage. But, she noticed that the cage is locked and one of the Dacia clones threw the key away. She pulled out a hairpin from her pocket and used it as a key to unlock the keylock, freeing Zerlina as they left the tower.

"Zerlina, stay here. I'll take care of Dacia." Shanda told her.

"Shanda, what about you?" Zerlina asked.

"I'll be fine."

Seeing that Shanda saved Zerlina, Dacia screamed in anger and destroyed the whole tower with her powers. The clones are blown away by the wind and striked by the lightning bolts. "You FREAK!!! Why you saved Zerlina?!"

"Stay away from her!" Shanda summoned more fishes as Ted, Mike, Tasha, Argus, Walt and Mort summoned many crabs, sea-goats, centaurs, scorpions, maidens and water-bearers to defeat Dacia, who tried to defend herself by throwing dark fireballs at her, no avail. "Your dad was a jerk like you!"

"You can't save her! But, you did!" Dacia continued as her hair became unkempt with fury. "You're not going anywhere, Shanda Dallinger!"

The two enemies kept summoning fishes and shooting fireballs in an attempt to stop each other from interfering the latter's plans. The rest of the Zodiacs kept unleashing their zodiac powers as they hit Dacia in process. "Ow! You and your friends bothered me for the last time!"

"It's never too late, girl!" Shanda summoned more fishes as they picked the dark girl by the jacket as she kept screaming.

"No! no! Let me go!" Dacia begged the fishes to let her go before being thrown into the sky. "AAAHHHH!!!! I'm sorry, father!!" She shouted as a lightning bolt striked her. Afer being hit, she was striked by more lightning bolts and killed her, destroying her for good as she disintegrated into magic dust.

After Dacia's defeat, Ted and the Zodiacs had left the destroyed tower where they saw Shanda and Zerlina, who are now safe. They cheered in happiness as they hugged each other.

"I thought you were going to be killed!" Candy hugged Zerlina tearfully.

"Thank goodness, girl." said Argus.

"Good job, Shanda." Abby complimented her cousin.

"Thank you."

"Thanks for saving me, Shanda." Zerlina complimented Shanda.

"Looks like Dacia is killed." said Tasha as she saw many zodiac symbols flying around the sky. "Hey, look!"

"The Zodiac symbols." The Zodiacs saw in wonder as the symbols flew far away and arrived in the Zodiac World. The symbols flew, flew and flew and formed into a zodiac horoscope, which exploded into magic and restored the Zodiac World into its former glory.

So much later, the Astro-Zodiacs returned to the Zodiac World where the inhabitants are cheering for them. Lariah came out of the temple and noticed Zerlina, who is still without her glasses. "Zerlina." She said.

"Mother!" The orange-haired girl exclaimed excitedly as she hugged her mother happily. "Aw, mom...."

"Zerlina, my girl. Look at yourself, you're all grown up and beautiful." Lariah hugged her as Lina and Gina cooed.

"Awww...."

"What a perfect moment!" Tasha started to sob as she hugged Claribel, surprising her.

"I love how goth girls act sensible." She said softly.

"I've missed you so much, sweetheart."

"Me too, mom."

"Zerlina is your daughter, Your highness." Shanda replied respectfully.

"Thank you, Zodiacs." Lariah thanked her and the Zodiacs.

"That was heartwarming." said Ted.

"I guess the Zodiac World is safe from danger." said Candy.

Zerlina looked at her friends as she looked at her mother, who gestured her to go ahead as she approached Shanda. "I...I don't know how to say, but..."

"Lariah will be fine." She said as she pulled out Zerlina's glasses.

"I don't need my glasses." Zerlina declined to use them as she looked at Lariah. "I won't let you down, mother. I'll be fine."

"Of course you won't. Be back anytime." The Zodiac Empress smiled.

Meanwhile, back to earth, Things returned back to normal. Shanda and her friends went to Myers Park High School and greeted each other. The brown-haired girl put her stuff in her locker where she saw Zerlina, who greeted her shyly.

"Hi, Shanda." She greeted.

"Hi, Zerlina." She greeted her as well.

Outside the school, Tasha pulled out her phone and is looking for a place to take a selfie. She tried to find the camera, but no avail as Abby, Helene and Candy appeared and took a selfie with themselves, much to the goth girl's delight. Ted is hanging out with Mike, Argus, Mort and Walt in the classroom talking to each other about their experiences with Shanda. Lina and Gina are talking to their classmates about how they brought Zerlina back to the Zodiac World. The boys and girls are astonished as the twins said. Later that night, Shanda is on a video chat with her old friends from college.

"And I brought Zerlina to Zodiac World where Lariah recognized her." She said.

"Cool." said Eddie.

"Nice." said Elliot.

"Zerlina and Lariah are mother and daughter. Oh, so touching." said Linda.

"Ah, come on, Linda. A empress turning her own daughter into a petal? In time, it's really weird." Talia didn't believe her.

"Actually, it's really heroic." said Phil.

"Zerlina is a geek." Ron joked. "But, not anymore."

"You're pretty good being Zodiac, Shanda."

"Thanks, Eddie." Shanda complimented him.

"Tomorrow, we have a good day. Good night, sis." Eddie turned off the video chat.

"Good night, big brother." Shanda yawned as she pulled out Zerlina's glasses, who is now served as a memento to remember her. She lied down on her own bed and fell asleep. Unknown to her, Zerlina is watching her through the window, smiling before approaching her mother Lariah. They looked at each other before returning to Zodiac World. Thanks to Shanda and the Zodiacs' efforts, planet earth and the Zodiac World are now peaceful.
