"Yn take table 3's order for me please. Boss is calling me." Suzy pleaded as she ran over to me in hurry. Normally I would have decline considering that I too would be busy, but today my tables have surprisingly not been very active. I had some free time on my hands.
"Sure thing Suzy, but you owe me one." I warned jokingly before I walked over to the table, hearing a 'sure thing, thanks' from the said girl who ran through the staff only door. Though I hadn't been to this side of the bar before, as my specific tables were on the other end, I wasn't afraid of anything at this point.
It was currently 11:50 pm and the bar was starting to fill up with even more drunkards and people who wanted to drink the night away. It didn't help that it was a Friday and majority of people were off work tomorrow so hang overs and such were not a problem for them. "Lucky for them." I grumbled under my breath as I squeezed through yet another couple who clearly didnt know where the dance floor was. It was times like these I questioned why I even work here.
If it wasn't for the fact my rent was due next week or that I would starve and be homeless, then I would have quit this job months ago. It wasn't like I hadn't gone job hunting, or looked for a better job, but who was going to hire someone who didn't even finish high school? It was always the same reaction when that question comes up.
They frown and then automatically assume that I was expelled or some delinquent, and end the interview right there and then. They don't even bother saying they would call back, they just tell me right there and then that they have a better candidate in mind. Why did they even bother interviewing me then? Anyway, this was the only place that would hire someone like me so I had little choice of what I could do.
Reaching the table, finally, after barging through the millions of customers, I made it to table 3 where 7 men were sat wearing all black. They were covered head to toe in black clothes, masks and hats, but this wasn't the first time I had seen this so it didnt really faze me.
I put on my fake customer smile to hide my exhaustion, before walking up to group. Their heads immediately turned as I stood in front of their table. "Welcome to Just Dance Bar, I'll be your waitress/ bartender today. Have you decided what you would like to order gentlemen?" The sentence came out monotonous and practised but I covered the clear boredom in my voice with a smile before turning to the boys.
I watched as they all exchanged glances with each other as though asking each other who was going to talk. My eyes roamed around looking for someone who would do the talking as it was obvious that all 7 of them couldn't talk at once. As I looked at each member, my eyes momentarily met with the man directly opposite me. I saw his eyes glowed a bright yellow before they shifted back to their browns. His eyes, like mine, widened for a second before someone cleared their throat and I looked towards them instead.
"Can we have 7 beers please." I nodded towards the one who spoke before writing down the order and asking if they wanted anything else. Everyone shook their heads and my eyes glanced at the man whose eyes glowed for a moment longer before walking off. I must truly be going crazy. There was no way someone's eyes would glow up. It had to be the lights from the dance floor a few meters away.
Shaking of my thoughts, I made my way to the back to prepare the beers for the table. I was the only person in the back as the other waiters were all out taking orders and making sure no fights broke out. The one thing that made me really hate this place was the fact we would have to take the aftermath of people getting drunk in here. The vomiting. The fighting. The break ups. The tears and heart breaks. Everything.
Finishing the orders I made my way with the tray, choosing a much safer way this time, and then placed the mugs on to the table. The group were in deep discussion so I just put the drinks down and left. But that doesn't mean I couldn't feel the stares on my back.
