Before I knew it a month and a half had gone by. Hayan was already getting too big for her newborn clothes and soon she'd be onto the next size in diapers as well.
"Ah, Good morning Joonie." Nana Heart greeted us when I dropped little Hayan off like usual.
"Good morning Nana Heart." I said still a little sleepy.
"Joon, here- Have some coffee." She said as she handed me a mug full of delicious smelling liquid. I set my sweet girl down into the bassinet Mrs. Heart had gotten for Hayan to be in while I was at work during the week. She was moving a lot more now and making more noises and coos as well. I wondered when she'd start crawling but from what I've read I should enjoy the fact that she hasn't figured that part out yet.
"Thanks Nana Heart." I said as took the mug from her and took a sip. I looked down at Hayan and smiled, then I looked up at Mrs. Heart. "Oh that reminds me, thank you so much for all the left overs. That apple turnover was amazing as well. Loved the grilled Salmon too." I commented as I thanked her.
"Haha, yes well- My grand daughter does know how to cook. I'll tell you send your thanks." She replied. I nodded.
"yeah, she's an amazing cook. If she opens a restaurant I would be waiting in line for it to open." I chuckled a bit, it was the truth. The leftovers Mrs. Heart had been bringing by were delicious. It kept me going when I didn't have time to order anything for myself. I was learning that babies required a lot of time, and that usually meant I didn't eat often.
"I'll tell her. She's actually opening up a bakery soon. She got her permits in order recently, she plans on opening it up on this side of town too. Which will be nice, we have restaurants but very few bakeries. I think she'll do quite well." She mused. I smiled and nodded, a bakery over on this side of town would be wonderful. Especially if they sell those apple turnovers, I think I could die a happy man if I could just get those whenever I wanted.
"Alright, well.." I turned to look down at my little angel who was staring up at me with a half smile. "Alright princess, Daddy's off to work. I'll see you when I get home, you be good for Nana Heart." I smiled at her and leaned down, placing a gentle kiss to her forehead. She wiggled cutely and I couldn't help but chuckle at her.
"Thanks again for continuing to watch her." I said thankfully. If not for her I'd be lost right now. "Send my thanks to your grand daughter too." I smiled. Mrs. Heart waved me off and I hurried to my car and pulled away. I had thought about writing a letter to this mystery grand daughter, I probably should. If not for her leftovers I'd be starving myself... hell I still wasn't really eating the way I should be, but I just didn't have time for any of it.
Work was as usual, editing... editing, listening to a bunch of blow-hards in a meeting. Then after lunch, more editing and research for my writing assignment. I liked this job, I really did.. but I wanted to write more, I wanted to write what I wanted without someone else judging me as I wrote it. That was the downside of working for a publication like this. We mostly edited other people's works, wrote articles for our newsletter that we sent out each month. It wasn't much writing on our part, but it was a foot in the door. I submitted a few stories for this one magazine, none of them were the right fit according to the magazine's head honcho. It didn't discourage me, all this only made me want to write a book instead of aiming for the low hanging fruit. I wanted to climb up the tree and pluck a juicy plum right off the branch.
Weeks were flying by, two months turned into three. My little Hayan was three and half months old and she was growing more and more. Her desire to sit up was becoming more present, she could hold her head up longer than she could before. Though she still would wobble and then lean her head against anything to stabilize herself again. She was my sweet little wobbly girl and I couldn't get enough of her. She made me laugh and I often found myself just watching her.
