Shao Fei's blood ran cold as he heard a scream right next to his ear. His eyes snapped open and he sat up scanning the room for the threat. A whimper sounded next to him and he looked down at Tang Yi.
His body was curled into itself, tears were streaming down his face and he had his pillow in a death grip. Shao Fei's heart broke. He touched Tang Yi's shoulder gently and made shushing sounds hoping to calm him.
Tang Yi still didn't wake up. His body shook with his sobs and he tried to slap away Shao Fei's hand in his sleep.
"Tang Yi, wake up!" Shao Fei yelled. He had to reach him somehow. He shook him and shook him and then held his naked body against his.
Shao Fei rocked him back and forth, his eyes watering. He couldn't image what he had gone through these last couple of years.
"Tang Yi," he called softly while continuing to rub and rock Tang Yi's body comfortingly.
After a while, Tang Yi's eyes blinked open. As they focused on Shao Fei's face, he calmed down even more.
"I'm sorry," Tang Yi said.
"It's okay," Shao Fei answered. "Are you okay? Did something happen in...?" he trailed off as he saw Tang Yi's shake his head vehemently.
"Are you sure? I'll fucking kill them. Who was it?" Shao Fei made as to get up, but was grabbed by a smiling Tang Yi.
"How do you do that?" Tang Yi asked with a rueful shake of his head.
Shao Fei frowned. "Do what?"
"Make me smile despite myself," Tang Yi said. Remembering what he dreamt about made him sober up again.
Shaof Fei buried his fingers in Tang Yi's soft strands. "What's wrong?"
Tang Yi's eyes scrunched up as if to cry again, but then he took a deep breath and his usual stone expression was back. "I dreamed of my father."
"I hated him, but there at the end I had a hope deep down that we could have a relationship. I keep replaying that gun shot sound when he killed himself. It's like on repeat in my brain and no matter what I can't get it out."
"He loved you, you know that? He would want you to be happy." Tang yi nestled into Shao Fei's neck and Shao Fei stroked his hair soothingly. "That's all you can do now for both of your fathers: live well."
"With you," Tang Yi said as he moved his head enough to peck Shao Fei on the lips.
"With me, " Shao Fei agreed. "Let's go to sleep. Tomorrow we'll deal with everything."
Tang Yi hugged Shao Fei to sleep and managed to sleep through the night.
***************************The next day*******************
The two handsome man admired each other through the mirror. Tang Yi adjusted his tie. As usual, he was dressed to kill. His burgundy suit making him stand out from the rest. Who am I kidding? The man's everything stands out from the rest, Shao Fei thought.
He gave himself a pitying look in the mirror. His cowlick was sticking out more than usual. His fashion style was as always a faded leather jacket, jeans, and plain shirt.
Tang Yi took out his cell phone from his blazer's inside pocket and dialed Jack. It was early in the morning, about 8:00 am. Too bad if he was sleeping. They needed to talk.
Jack
Jack glared at his phone as it rang for the umpteenth time. It must be something important, but he resented anyone that interrupted him eating his breakfast also known as Zhao Zi.
