The silhouette was a familiar Pokèmon. One that often delivered messages. "Pidgeot, welcome back," Satoshi said warmly as the majestic bird landed.

Pigeo! (Letter for you!) Pidgeot said holding up her foot. Satoshi knelt down and untied the letter.

"Thank you. Why don't you rest?" Satoshi said as he offered a pokèball. Pidgeot gave a nod of consent before disappearing in a beam of red light. Putting away the Pokeball he then opened the letter.

Pikachu? (What does it say?) His companion asked.

'And who is it from?' Lucario added knowing only a select few had contact with them.

Satoshi chuckled at their questioning gazes. Instead of answering he cleared his throat and began to read:

"Dear Rising Trainer,
You have been recommended for the Master League, a competition that includes both contests and battles. This competition will be held at the Indigo Plateau in Kanto in five months. It is not necessary to register for both. You may choose to enter just the battles or contests. To register you must go to the Pokèmon Center and give your name. We hope to see you there.
From, Mr. Goodshow."

'Ah, so the time has come for you to show yourself.' Lucario said.

Pikachu! Pika pika! (Alright! Let's show them what we can do!) Pikachu shouted.

Satoshi hummed before he frowned and flipped the paper over. Concentrating, he allowed his aura to flow over the paper. In doing so, ink began to appear on the back revealing a message:

Scott here!

Your safe and sound and I look forward to seeing you compete. Has it been two years since you've last battled in a league? I hope you aren't rusty. Allies and the opposing side will be there. They've received their own invitations to the event. This is your chance to face the past. Don't waste it.

Do be sure to travel carefully, you are a very well known figure nowadays. Of course, any sightings will be forwarded to you. The other regions have taken action and have teams reading energy levels. They seem to be going on lockdown, a smart move.

We'll be waiting for you to assess the situation. Once you're done just go to Mr. Goodshow's room to report your findings. Show them what you can do!

Satoshi scanned the letter. Re-reading it to find the pattern he established for coded messages: 1, 2, 2. He frowned.

'Master? Is there a problem?' Lucario asked as he stepped forward.

"Just some energy spiking near the site of the competition," Satoshi muttered as he walked back to his campsite. He tossed the letter into the fire he made.

'They've appeared again? I thought it was over.' Lucario said with a frown. 'They' being the darkness that threatened the world. A result of a failed creation. A threat made by a greedy man.

"We did suspect them to continue despite the danger," Satoshi said with a sigh. "That incident was just the beginning. This is the real threat." He said.

Pikachu pika! Chu, pika pi chu pika cha. (We'll deal with it then! For now, focus on proving those traitors wrong.) Pikachu said seriously. Satoshi nodded. He would never forgive those he once called friends. They put his town and himself in danger. The gave Team Rocket his name and details of his life. Ash Ketchum and all he holds dear would be targeted.
