"Anck Su Namun! Save me! Save me!" Imhotep cried out. Hoping that she would come to him. He could barley hold on as the demons from the underworld tried to pull him down. 'She will come and save me. Our love is much more powerful than any-' he was cutoff by his own thought when he heard her scream "No!" And ran away. Saving herself than risking herself to save him. "ANCK SU NAMUN!!!" he screamed in heartbreak and pain. 'Why would she run away? Did she ever truly love me? Or did she just use me because I only had gain power?' Imhotep starred with tears welling up in his eyes as he called out to himself "Anck Su Namun..."

He looked over to the O'Connell's, Rick and Evy. 'That is true love' he thought to himself. He looked to them and smiled as if to tell them how sorry he was for doing all the bad things he had ever done to both of them and to everyone in the past. 'I deserve to live my eternal life in the underworld. I deserve this." As Imhotep pushed himself off the edge of the pit, he was surprised to feel two very tight grips on his arms. He looked up, to his utter shock, that it was both Rick and Evy. 'They risked their own lives to save me. To save their enemy... But why?' He asked himself. He wasn't worth the trouble, but they wouldn't let go.

As they pulled him up and ran towards the exit he heard Rick speak "I sure hope we don't end up regretting this in the long run Evy." "Why did you guys save him?!" Jonathan and Alex asked in pure confusion. "We'll explain later. Right now, we need to get the hell out of here!" Rick said, trying to keep himself collective and as calm as possible. Imhotep was still very confused by their selfless act. 'I deserve to die and yet I feel like they want me to suffer even more' he thought, still heartbroken by his once loves actions. It was more painful than being slowly eaten by the scarabs when he was buried alive.

As they were running through the corridors they heard, some where up ahead, scream. But Imhotep new that scream. It was her. He stopped for a moment or too as he heard the sound of scarabs feasting on her. 'Goodbye, I hope the God's have mercy on you,' he thought as he knew, Anck Su Namun wouldn't be walking out of here alive. Evy grabbed him and kept him running towards an exit. As they made it outside, they saw that the oasis and everything surrounding the pyramid was being sucked up. Almost like a tub draining water. "Alright this whole damn place is gonna get sucked up! Move up!" Shouted Rick as they all made their way to the top of the pyramid

Even though they had made it to the top they were trapped. A great wall of sand from all sides were coming closer to bury them all alive underneath and forever cover the once lush oasis. Imhotep looked around him, not worried about how his end will come, he saw something they had that he had always wanted. A family, people to love and love him in return. Just then a voice shouted from above them "Oi!" It was Izzy and his hot air balloon. 'I thought I destroyed that flying bubble, how is it still able to fly?' He asked himself. "Izzy!!" Rick called out to him. Time was short as they all started to pile in. First it was Rick's son Alex, then Evy, then Rick. Followed by a frightened Jonathan and still very confused yet grateful Imhotep.

As they got closer to the top Jonathan fell off. Thinking quickly Imhotep stretched out his hand and felt a slight tingle in his finger tips. Just before Jonathan slammed head first into the top of the pyramid, he stopped within inches of it. "My powers," Imhotep said to himself in both shock and excitement "have returned!" As he was about to lift him up into the hot air balloon, Jonathan grabbed the diamond that was fixed atop of the pyramid. "It's not worth your life you idiot!!!" Rick shouted to Jonathan. Imhotep was thinking the same thing as he pulled him up successfully. And just in time too. The oasis was swallowed up by the sands of Egypt, never to be seen again.

As Imhotep came aboard the vessel, Alex finally asked "Mom, dad, can you two please explain, why in bloody hell did you save him??" Rick looked to his son and said "First off, watch your mouth. Secondly, it-" Evy piped up "How would you feel if I left your father back there Alex?" He looked down and said "Not too good. I would be mad." Evy then said to her son "Alex, I saw something in him. There's still a sign that he could do good." Jonathan nodded holding this massive diamond in his hands as he stated "Yes yes whatever. Look he saved my life, I'm willing to bury the hatchet with this chap and go about our lives, if you don't mind."

Evy looked at Imhotep and said to him in Ancient Egyptian "I am so sorry that Anck Su Namun used you. Me and my husband wish to help you, to become good." Imhotep looked down in shame and replied "Thank you both, but I am not worth saving. I hurt you all and I was willing to pay for my sins by throwing myself into the underworld. Then you both saved me." He looked up in Evy's eyes as tears welled up again. He took her hand and said "I am so sorry... For everything. I don't expect any of you to trust me or even think that what I say is true. But I wish to do good. I need to atone for my sins."

Evy could feel the pain and guilt in his words, what he said was true. "Rick... We need to help him." Rick looked at his wife, baffled by what she had proposed. "Evy, we saved him because we both felt guilty that his girlfriend left him. I don't know if I can trust him." Evy replied with confidence "He truly is sorry for what he has done, to all of us. He wishes to repair what he was done. Like an atonement." Rick looked at Imhotep then to his wife. "Alright fine. We'll help him. But," he continued to a grateful Imhotep "you tell him that if he ever tried any funny business, I will put him down." Imhotep stood up and looked to Rick and said something to Evy. She chuckled a little. "What did he tell you?" He asked her. "He said he can understand you" she replied with a smirk on her face. Rick and Imhotep looked at each other with blank stares. "I'll be watching you" Rick told him.

Over the next six months Imhotep learned a lot while living with the O'Connell's. He learned to read, write, and speak in english, he even was able to help Alex with his homework and even took him to the museums and filled in the gaps to what happened back in the ancient egyptian times. Imhotep enjoyed spending time with Alex so much and Alex with Imhotep that he refered to him as Uncle Imhotep. Jonathan's trust was easily gained when he saved his life at the pyramid, Jonathan did however enjoy Imhotep's company. But mostly he did ask Imhotep for help on selling the diamond to a museum who was willing to buy the diamond for a very good price. Imhotep never understood Jonathan's greed but he saw deep down past that he was a caring and loving brother to his sister, Evy, as well as to his family.

Evy took a while but the more she saw Alex spending time with him the more she knew she made the right choice. One night she spoke to him, "Thank you so much for helping Alex and for teaching him so much about the ancient times." A smile formed over Imhoteps face. "You are very welcome. Thank you for giving me this second chance." She smiled and said "I know Rick doesn't show his true feelings sometimes but, I'm sure he is grateful that you are here for Alex and for us."

Imhotep sat on the roof that night looking up at the stars and the moon. Wondering what life would have been like if he had just stayed away from her. "Got sick of looking at the books I see," Rick remarked with a half smile. Imhotep, in english, replied in a saddened tone "I just- I just was wondering what life would have been like if-" "If you hadn't met your ex girlfriend?" Rick finished his sentence. He nodded and looked back up at the night sky "Yes..." Rick sat next to him and said in a much friendly manner "Look, I- I know that you have been trying. You have been trying so hard and you have done so much for the family. I just wanted to say... Thank you. For everything. And thank you for opening my eyes at giving people a second chance." Imhotep smiled and nodded. Rick held out his hand. Imhotep shook it. As the two once enemies now very good friends smiled back at one another and shook hands, a new chapter was formed between the two. A brotherly bond. One that Rick and Imhotep had never thought they would ever have. "Also, uh, dinner is ready. If you are ready to come down." Imhotep smiled at him and said "Thank you kindly Rick, I'll be down in a minutes." Rick nodded and headed down, leaving Imhotep to look up at the sky with a smile on his face. And as a tear streamed down his face, he realized for the first time in his long life that he had a place to call home. As well as people to call his family.
