MY EYES GLIDE OVER the worn pages, trying to disappear from the dull college class that I am forced to be in. I'd much rather be in my dorm reading my book than be here with all these snobs and stupid jocks who are required to take this general course like me. As I read my book I can't help but drift into my imagination. I couldn't help but imagine what it would have been like to live in the roaring twenties, the jazz era. Besides the prohibition and tons of gangsters everywhere, it was the time of parties and love. I think of what I would have done if I were in Daisy's position, would I have gone with the man that is head over heels in love with me and would do anything and everything to keep me or someone who cheats on me but can provide for me and my children? I'd like to think that I would choose the man that loved me but then again anything could change the situation at hand.

"Ordelia Gray?" the Professor calls out snapping me out of thought. "Here" raising my hand above my head just enough for him to see, then continuing to read my book that is hidden beneath my table. I look up to see the windows giving an almost dreary ambience to the room, the flickering clear light in the back that can't seem to decide whether to fight or just give up, how the tile on the floor is painted with an excessive amount of dirt even the ability to see my own dreadful reflection when looking down upon it is non existent.

My craving to escape the dreadful classroom was unbearable once the time struck three, noticing this my professor ultimately allows the students and I our freedom. As I walk out of the class I speed to the cafe to get my coffee before there becomes a line from the classes getting out.

"Hey Parker, the usual please." I say rushing to get my money out.

"Hey Elia, I've already got it ready for you as usual. One Americano with nonfat milk and extra hazelnut creamer." She says with ease as she does every day. Her smile shimmering through her lips while she moves her brown curly hair from her clear dark skin. Her emerald eyes glowing whilst her eyelashes flutter over them.

"Thank you." I say dropping the two dollars and seventy five cents onto the counter and giving a small smile.

"What are best friends for? I'll see you at the dorm after my shift ok?"

"Okay." I say with my coffee in hand as I try to find an empty table to sit at to finish my drink.

Throwing away my now empty coffee cup, I advance out of the cafe absorbing the charming nature. The fresh Fall breeze tangles itself into my chestnut hair before resting it just above my tailbone, in the sky a mixture of orange, pink, and purple paint a tranquil scenery for the approaching moon, my amber eyes glow with excitement as I glance downward to my copy of The Great Gatsby filled with markings of my beloved passages. As I stroll to my lonely dorm, I am abruptly taken aback when crashing into a towering firm figure.

I pause, glancing up from my book that is now on the soggy concrete. I stammer, struggling to put my words together in a complete sentence. His crystal blue eyes welcoming me in with an ice cold omen, conducting me in an unbreakable trance. My eyes drift from his plump blush lips, to his chiseled cut jaw, watching the breeze rake through his permed dark hair, and the golden afternoon glistening onto his clear tan skin.

"Watch where you're going" a raven haired boy beside him states.

Still frozen from absorbing his features, he lowers himself down clutching onto my book. His eyes roll over the title as the ends of his mouth progress into a smirk.

"Huh, F. Scott Fitzgerald, I'm more of a Shakespeare man." He reveals with a firm deep voice while granting me the book. As he steps away I face him with a stunned look then take off whilst hearing a small chuckle leave his mouth from his comment.
