Scorpio's POV
Apparently, it was Sagittarius' idea for all of us to have lunch. My friend Capricorn told me earlier, and invited me to sit with him. Who knew that there would be such a big group? The twelve of us (I think?) sat down in the cafeteria, talking and eating, learning about each other.
That's when I spotted her.
Aries sat next to Libra, Pisces and Aquarius, and they were chatting. That's when I found it hard to keep my eyes of her. My eyes drew to her lips when I heard my name being called out.
"Oy! Scorp, are you listening?" Leo asked. I sighed frustratedly. Everyone else seemed to like Leo, except me.
"First of all, don't call me Scorp. Secondly, yes I was. I'm going to go and get to know some of the other people on this table." I stood up, and carried my lunch tray over to the other side of the table, and sat at the empty seat across Aries. There were a lot of empty spaces, since we pushed two tables together, and each table had 8 chairs. The one across Aries was the closest I could get to her.
"Hey girls!" I said, trying to be friendly.
"Hey Scorpio, what's up?" Aries asked. I felt the color rising up my cheeks, and grinned when she said my name. It didn't matter how she knew my name.
"Nothing... I was wondering what you guys were talking about. I came here because everyone was talking about Leo, and grew bored."
"Oh, we weren't talking about anything important."
"Let me guess, it was boys, right?" Leo walked over to the table, repeatedly catching throwing a tennis ball up into the air. Geez Leo, just leave us alone for a bit.
"No it wasn't!" Aquarius scowled. "We we're talking about which lessons we enjoyed, and..."
"Nerd stuff? Okay, you guys were definitely talking about boys." Leo circled around the table to behind where the girls were sitting. The girls turned their attention to him, and their backs to me. I sighed.
"So who do you guys like? I don't mind if you say me... I mean, I am charming!" As if on cue, the ball dropped out of his hands, and he crawled down to reach it from under the table.
"You forgot to mention idiotic!" Aries called out. I snickered. Aries seemed really cool, and I couldn't help wondering if she liked me too.
"I did you a favor," a voice called out from behind. It was Taurus, one of the guys I met earlier. "I moved it with my mind. Telekinesis. It's obvious that you're crushing on one of them, so I moved the ball downwards as a distraction. Knowing Leo, he's going to feel humiliated and go over to the other table and pretend nothing happened."
That was exactly what Leo did. Libra high-fived Taurus. "I saw that coming." Libra whispered to Taurus.
"Do any of you find Leo annoying? If you don't, then I'm going to throw this piece of broccoli at you." I teased.
"You wouldn't dare..." Aries began, but was hit in the face with my broccoli.
"Score!" I yelled.
"Oh, so you WANNA GO?" Aries picked up her egg and threw it at my face.
A sudden rush of adrenaline wavered through my body and soon I couldn't hold in the temptation to fling more of my vegetables at her. Everyone in the cafeteria was watching but I didn't care.
"Should we interfere?" Libra asked uncertainly, but was hushed by Leo, who calmly said, "Let's not interrupt these lovebirds." He started making kissy-faces like some immature kid.
"SCORPIO SCORPION AND ARIES RAM!" We turned around to see an angry principal. "MY OFFICE. NOW."
"Umm..." Aries began.
"I SAID NOW!" Jupiter was clearly very angry. That's when I realized that the cafeteria was a mess. But how was this possible? Sauce was everywhere, and Virgo was still in shock about how her shirt was stained.
Aries and I followed Jupiter into his office. We were silent as we didn't want to cause excessive trouble. When we entered, Jupiter walked over to his desk and sat down. We stood it front of the desk. I was panicking slightly, but Aries gave me a reassuring smile.
"Was there any reason to start that food fight?" Jupiter raised an eyebrow.
"Uhhh..." Aries started, and turned red. She looked down at her shoes, lost for words.
"No, Mr. It was my fault. I was the one who started it. I didn't know what I was doing most of the time. I'm sorry for starting the food fight. I shouldn't have, and it was wrong that I did. I am fully responsible for all of this." I stated. I didn't want Aries to have a bad first day of school because of me.
"Thank you for telling the truth, Scorpio. You will receive detention. As for you, Ms Aries, you are excused, but will join Scorpio later in detention for a short while. You may leave now."
Aries stood up, and whispered to me, "You didn't have to do this, Scorpio," before walking out.
A few minutes later, Aries entered the cafeteria. Our detention was cleaning up the mess that we made. What a great start to the school year. Hooray for cleaning.
"Aries, I um... need to ask you something."
"Yeah? What?" Aries' eyes lit up. I turned red. Damn it, Aries. Stop making me blush.
"Uh, how did we cause this mess in the first place? I mean, all we did was throw food at each other... why is the mess so... messy?"
"Well, I guess, if you're really enjoying something, you lose control of your actions. Your subconscious mind starts to take control and you lose contact with reality. You said so yourself in the office - 'I didn't know what I was doing most of the time'. But this rarely happens - usually it's when someone has a lot of feelings for someone. Like they're in love. But, I don't think that's the case for you."
My heart sank.
"I think," Aries continued, while grabbing the mop and scrubbing the ketchup on the floor, "that you were just enjoying the moment, and lost control. Is that right?"
"Y-yeah." I muttered. "I guess so." Then I decided to change the subject. "Has something ever happened to you like this before?"
Aries sighed. "Yeah, but a long time ago, in a different school, when I was in love with someone." Then there was a long pause. Aries sighed, and said, "I don't really want to talk about it."
