The inspiration for this story came when I was experiencing a low mood. It was cold and grey outside with a white sky of overcast clouds building with rain but no release in sight. I sat on the cold concrete of the patio in my backyard with my vape in hand, knees curled up, tight, arms holding myself together, watching vapor clouds blend into the drab world around me. I felt like I was losing control of myself and my life and my mind; I was a small boat on a tumultuous sea and I needed an anchor, or to find the eye, anything to save myself.
I got up from the ground and in a few anger heated steps, I made my way to the garage and my fist made contact, once, twice. Pain exploded in my hand but I finally had a second to breathe. It was when I turned that the picture came to mind. My hair was blowing in the wind and the vapor clouds were still pouring out, I was anger incarnate, and I refused to be out of control in my own life.
Playing with that image of a powerful female lead over several days, I kept picturing this powerful woman with a sure step and a straight spine. This woman has survived one long hardship of a life and she has come out stronger; this woman is everything I aspire to be.
A force, unbreakable, in the shape of a simple female. That's the inspiration.
