I looked out the window at the bland, gray sky. I hate New Jersey. To be more specific, I hate Clyde, New Jersey. I'm forever wishing for a plane ticket out of this small town. Oh, and when I say "small town" I'm not exaggerating, the population, as of right now, is 213 people. If my mom and I got up and left one day, I'd be perfectly fine. It's not like I'd miss anyone.
It's almost 12pm and I'm still not dressed. I walked to the bathroom and almost shrieked at the sight of myself.
Yesterday's makeup was almost completely rubbed off, while the remains covered the bags underneath my tired green eyes. My dirty blonde hair was half-out of its messy bun and one of my earrings was missing. I reached for my hair brush when- "BRITNEY MARIE ANDREWS!" Uh oh. My mom never uses my full name. This can't be good.I rush down the stairs. "Yeeeesss mother?", I tried to be as sweet as possible. "Get your butt over here. Now." She was sitting at the computer. "What's up?", I asked in a concerned tone. She was looking at my grades. "Young lady, you are hardly 3 months into school and you're already failing half of your classes!!" She was angry. "Mom, I can explai-"
"Give me your phone." The last time she took away my phone it was for two months, and that was for not taking the garbage out, who knows how long it could be this time.
I made a fast decision. "No.", I crossed my arms.
"That's it pack your stuff."
"Why?"
"Because I'm taking you to your dads for a while. I can't deal with you right now." She seemed stressed. My dad lives about an hour away from my mom and I. The last time I saw him was probably during the summer, so like 4 months ago. It's not that I don't like my dad, he can just get annoying if you're around him for too long.
The car ride was silent. My mom focused angrily on the road and I put in my headphones, trying to drown out the rest of the world.
