Cory
"Cory!" Brandon says running to me. Shit is that a kid with whiskey? I take my cigarette out of my mouth and put the bud out, as I walk towards them. "Who's this Riley?" I ask as she hides behind him. Brandon Riley Aaron Benson is a family friend of mine, he's twelve and he's a smoker. I didn't teach him his dumb ass friends did. Amy his mum, sorry MOM I'm Canadian so shut up, works at FOX. "Jasmine." She replies with tears in her eyes. "Hey Jazzy." I smile as she gives me a scared look, until I called her Jazzy. "Hello sir please don't hurt me!" She pleads as tears roll down her face. I frown as Riley looks at me. "Hey, hey, I'm not gonna hurt you." I say as tears threaten my eyes. "I'm Cory, nice to meet you, do you like being called Jazzy?" She nods as she almost falls on the ground. I bend down and hug her as she shakes in my arms. Just as the greyhound bus stops in front of us and gives her a large duffle bag. "Thank you sir." He smiles and gets back on and leaves. "My mom and dad abandoned me my mom likes "sugar", it's meth I know that." I look at bruises on her face. Shit balls how, why would you do this to your fucking child? How could you leave them behind? "I'm eight years old, parents are on stuff. They basically left me to fend for myself. They don't even let me eat much." She continues explaining as she smokes. Then I tell her my life story before taking the joint from her. "Excuse me can I hug you?" She smiles. I'm taken aback when she climbs in my lap as I throw the bud away as she opens her arms and I hug her tight. "Hey we gotta go home." Riley says grabbing her hand. "I'm coming with you both." As she looks at her hand terrified. "Please don't hurt me. I have money!" She rummages through her purse and pulls out a twenty dollar bill. "Let go of her hand please." He nods and let's go as her hand shakes. "I'm sorry!" She says as she cries. "It's ok." I say and carry her following Riley home. We all sit and listen to Jasmine. "Oh my god!" Me and Amy say in unison and then Amy called CPS and I shake my head. "Miss Benson, can I go with Mr. Cory." She asks and she shakes her head. "Oh ok." She says as tears come down her face. "Show me your arms sweetie." They say pulling coke from her bag. She pales at the question. Then she pulls her sleeves up and we all see needle marks. "Someone get her a bucket." I say calming her down as the bucket appears. "EW!" Riley says. When she's done I talk to everyone. "Sweetie do you trust anyone here?" Amy asks. "Mr. Cory ma'am. Do you wanna be my brother friend?" She asks me. "I'd love to." I smile as tears fall down my face. "Last name sweetie?" They ask and she fills them in on everything she can. She starts singing to herself. "Cause it's a bittersweet symphony this life
Trying to make ends meet, you're a slave to the money then you die.
I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down
You know the one that takes you to the places where all the veins meet, yeah.
No change, I can't change, I can't change, I can't change,
but I'm here in my mold, I am here in my mold.
But I'm a million different people from one day to the next
I can't change my mold, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
Well I never pray,
But tonight I'm on my knees, yeah.
I need to hear some sounds that recognize the pain in me, yeah.
I let the melody shine, let it cleanse my mind, I feel free now.
But the airwaves are clean and there's nobody singing to me now.
No change, I can't change, I can't change, I can't change,
But I'm here in my mold, I am here in my mold.
And I'm a million different people from one day to the next
I can't change my mold, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
Cause it's a bittersweet symphony this life.
Trying to make ends meet, trying to find some money then you die.
I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down
You know the one that takes you to the places where all the veins meet, yeah.
No change, I can't change, I can't change, I can't change,
but I'm here in my mold, I am here in my mold.
But I'm a million different people from one day to the next
I can't change my mold, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
I can't change my mold, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
I can't change my mold, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
It justs sex and violence melody and silence
It justs sex and violence melody and silence (I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down)
It's just sex and violence melody and silence
It's just sex and violence melody and silence
It's just sex and violence melody and silence (I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down)
(It's just sex and violence melody and silence)Been down
(Ever been down)
(Ever been down)
(Ever been down)
(Ever been down)
(Ever been down)" I hug her tight and we then sing together. "All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression, no expression
Hide my head, I want to drown my sorrow
No tomorrow, no tomorrow
And I find it kinda funny, I find it kinda sad
The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you, I find it hard to take
When people run in circles it's a very very
Mad world, mad world
Children waiting for the day, they feel good
Happy birthday, happy birthday
Made to feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen, sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me, no one knew me
Hello teacher, tell me what's my lesson
Look right through me, look right through me
And I find it kinda funny, I find it kinda sad
The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you, I find it hard to take
When people run in circles it's a very very
Mad world, mad world
Enlarge your world
Mad world."
