—————————————"Mark? Hey Markie Mark. Mork. Mack. Mark. Markie. Mark. Mark. Mark-"
"What do you want Haechan??? It's 5 in the morning!"
Mark groaned, sleepily reaching out to rest his hand on the younger boy's cheek and push the boy's face away from himself."Mark- get up we need to do something important... but also sort of risky so we need to do it and get out before snake receptionist or gum man come." Haechan quickly explained, bringing his face even closer to Marks face than before, blowing on the boy's face in hopes of waking him up.
"Risky?! Have we not risked enough already?!" Mark's eyes shot open as he finally processed Haechan's rapid fire speech, his head flying up to see what Haechan was doing only to collide with Haechan himself.
"Oww..." Mark groaned, falling back into the bed and holding his head once again. "I'm honestly surprised that you still have a brain in there after knocking it around so much." Haechan quipped, stifling his own cry of pain just so he could smoothly tease the older boy.
"Now come on we need to hurry." Haechan claimed, pulling Mark out of his bed and leading him over to the trays of leftover food from the night before.
"I am not eating that. I have stooped low before, but I can not and will not-" Mark began only to yelp in surprise when Haechan tipped the plates of spaghetti onto the floor. "Not for eating idiot, snake accused us of ruining the room so we might as well live up to her expectations."
"That's a bit harsh."
"But she deserves, yes?"
Haechan retaliated, "...... technically." Mark finally agreed, gingerly picking up a plate of fries and dropping it on the ground."There you go! Live a little! Let loose, have fun!" Haechan cheered, stomping on the fries and mushing them into the carpet. With a laugh Mark decided to listen to the younger. Joining him in his quest to destroy the room, the two flung food across the walls and floor, ripped blankets off of beds, and had pillow fights until feathers floated around the room, falling like snow.
"Good enough for you?" Mark panted, as Haechan finally stopped to survey their masterpiece, "Indeed my good sir, shall we take our leave?" Haechan smoothly adopted his posh voice once more, holding his hand out for Mark who accepted with a grin. The two boys made their way downstairs, giggling and snickering as they went, doing their best to force serious faces as they got to the lobby.
"Your key ma'am." Haechan stated, sliding the key back to the woman who was still forcing the sleep from her eyes, quickly turning Haechan began to lead Mark out of the building only to be stopped by a obviously tired but still annoyingly shrill voice, "Not so fast rugrats. It's customary here that I check the rooms condition BEFORE you leave to check for any damages you may have to pay for." She hummed with an venomous grin.
"Oh of course, go ahead, we're right behind you." Haechan nonchalantly announced, giving Marks hand a reassuring squeeze and leaning over to whisper in his ear as the three walked down the hall towards their room. "When I give the signal, run. Don't look back, just book it like your life depends on it. If I don't make it out alive... know it was fun while it lasted." He dramatically whispered, giving Mark a tiny salut and wink.
As the three reached the door Mark could feel his pulse pick up, 'this is it. I'm going to jail, and at such a young age too. I can't believe it.' He thought as the women opened the door. "Run." Haechan bluntly stated as the woman let out a surprised shriek, the younger quickly pushing Mark one way before taking off in the opposite direction.
Without hesitation Mark began running, flying down the hallway and sliding out of the front door in what felt like seconds. Jumping down the steps two at a time Mark could feel both terror and excitement push him on until he was about a block away from the hotel, his running slowing to a walk and his mind finally clearing enough to think again.
With a euphoric laugh he turned to find Haechan, his heart dropping once he realized the boy hadn't followed him. "Haechan?" Mark called out loud, ignoring the glances some people threw him. "Haechan?!" He continued to call, searching the streets for hours, looking for the younger boy and fearfully avoiding the sounds of sirens in case the hotel had the police looking for him.
"Mark?? Is that you???" A voice called, around dusk causing Mark's heart to leap as he turned hoping to see the brown haired boy standing there, only to frown in disappointment when he found his friend rather than the boy behind him.
"Mark you've had us worried sick! Where have you been, Evelynn and An have spent all day looking for you!" Kana practically growled, stalking up to Mark and slapping him over the head. "Ow! Kana! I thought only Evelynn would stoop that low..." Mark whined, holding his head once again. "Ev almost called the police! You know how paranoid she is!" Kana continued to rant until Mark finally held his hands up in a defeated and submissive gesture.
"Ok ok! I get it, I spent the day hanging out with Haechan. Well until I lost him that is, I've been searching for hours and I haven't caught a glimpse of him." Mark explained, "Lost him? How did you do that?" Kana questioned, still seething but now interested in Marks claim.
".... It's a long story. But it doesn't matter, all that matters is that I didn't even get his phone number!" Mark complained, the hurt look on his face quelling Kana's anger. "Aw I'm sorry Mark. I'm sure you two will run into each other, you did it once and you'll do it again." She smoothly lied, not having the heart to tell the boy how hard it would be to actually find the younger. She knew well that looking for one person among the billions that lived on earth was like trying to find a needle in a haystack, but with Mark looking so defeated and lost how could she ever tell him the cold, hard truth?
"Now let's go, gotta show Ev that you're alive so she can finally stop hyperventilating and holding her finger over the emergency call button." Kana muttered soothingly, ruffling Mark's hair affectionately as she began leading the boy back towards their friend's house.
