With a creak from the sofa you stand up slowly and calm your shaky knees.
The scent of coffee was strong and had a mixture of berries in it. Looking around the room you see no cup or mug with the beverage, yet the aroma was all up in your nose. It had a sort of calming effect.
*creak*
Where it was coming from you had no idea and you didn't really want to sit and speculate all evening of the possibilities. Especially about a cup of coffee.
But it smelled so nice though~
Letting out another relaxed bubble of breath you decide not to dwell anymore and grab your bag. Looking around one last time you then exit the room into the hallway leaving the scent behind. Even though that lady said to rest, it was better to go home seeing as the sky turned dark.
*zip*
Fishing your phone out of the bag and zooming past contacts you press on one and put it to your ear.
A moment passes.
Your eyes scan the long hallway with no one in it as your back is pressed against the windowsill. Several other doors stretched across the white corridor. No lights were visible through the gaps and no noise was heard either. Probably because lectures have ended in this part of the building and everyone was long gone. Well, the students at least.
The phone makes a crackling sound and your mom finally answers:
"Yes? You needed something deary?" the phone crackles again and you hear her yelling at something.
With a huff she continues:
"Sorry Y/N, some idiot wouldn't let me out of the parking lot" she turns on the radio and muffled music is heard through the phone.
"Can you maybe pick me up if you're on your way home?" turning slightly to the window you see outdoor lamps flicker on. The sky showed no signs of clouds as it was dyed a deep purple with pink hues.
"Sure!" she answers cheerfully then grows quiet a bit "Is everything ok?"
Her question seemed a bit funny because now you were completely fine. As if that incident was all a dream.
"I just feel a bit tired" normally you would take a bus back home especially on an evening like this when the sky was pretty. Getting off a bit earlier and walking was therapeutic, even when it was raining and you had an umbrella it felt nice to hear the pitter patter of water.
"Ok, I'll be there in 20 minutes!" the phone beeps and the call ends. Surprised by your own calm answer you give yourself an encouraging pat.
Of course you didn't want to worry her. More or less about something that sounded crazy and made up.
Passing into the main lobby you see some students and a few staff walking around. One student typed at their laptop with speed as a steaming cup of coffee sat at their side. The cafe on your right was closed with no food on the counters and everything was cleared of. The curved sliding door moved as a man went through it and it creaked softly as it stopped. Posters and huge paintings covered the high wall on your left and in the middle where the student sat were a few tables which were split apart by wooden screen walls. On top of them were pots with dark colored plants spreading their stems and leaves to the ground. It acted as a decoration and somewhat of a shield from prying eyes if you wanted some peace. And who could ignore the giant windows scattered everywhere that showed the outside. The skylight above you stretched across the roof and beyond it was a deep purple sky crossing over to darkness.
*clack clack clack*
A woman passes by with a few books in her arms and disappears at the far left corner near the cafe. There were also a set of stairs that led down to the other side of the courtyard and climbing them a few people showed up and stopped at the top.
