april 4th, 2020.

sophia lillis sat on her best friend wyatt oleff's sofa.

it was a quite day in chicago. not much people around at all.

the rain fell loudly against the window, pattering onto the ground quickly.

sophia groans and checks her phone again.

nothing.

"still wondering if he's gonna text you back?" wyatt comes in, laying down on the couch across from her.

sophia had been texting chosen earlier on, getting really observed in their conversation, and he hadn't texted her back for awhile.

she nods, seeming absent.

"wait! i forgot to tell you this yesterday but my stepdad's renting a beach house this summer, and he says i can bring some friends. it will just be us as he's on business and staying in some hotel."

wyatt smiles.

"so like the cast of i am not okay with this?" he asks.

sophia bites his lip.

"well.." she trails of for a minute and wyatt looks confused.

"i was thinking since i was talking to chosen earlier, how about we bring the IT cast? we haven't talked in ages and i miss everyone," she sighs as she sees wyatt's face, "we can still bring sofia and richard," she adds.

wyatt spaces out for a minute or two, clearly thinking hard about this.

"okay.. i guess it sounds fun."

sophia notices how hesitant he is.

"what's wrong wy?" she asks, concern dripping in her voice.

"okay fine, i'll tell you. so it all started when i met him..."

jaeden martell sits outside of target in his car, waiting for his mom to come out.

he's pulling his beanie more over his hair as he sees a group of teenagers walk past his car, sneering at him.

he bites his lip and looks away, blushing slightly.

he turns up the radio, getting lost in one of the beatles songs.

he's so absorbed in listening to the lyrics that he doesn't notice his phone beep until seconds later.

he opens up his phone to a text from sophia.

"sophia?" he whispers, opening the text.

sophia😂🤠: jaeden !! wyatt just told me everything that happened in 2017! we need to talk!!

jaeden freezes with fear.

there's another text from wyatt.

wyatt💔: jaeden. i'm sorry i told sophia about what happened. please just don't freak out. she's not going to tell anyone. please please don't freak out and please text me back when you get this. we need to talk.

jaeden bites his lip, tears welling in his eyes as angela opens the car door.

"hey, jae! i got your favorite vegan ice-" she stops when she sees how broken he looks.

"baby. what happened?" she asks.

jaeden just hugs her closely, pushing the tears away.
