When you'd started working for Stark Industries you didn't have high hopes you'd move through the ranks fast. You had so many geniuses come and go in your department. No one could really compete with them.

You'd made a breakthrough on some nano tech, an old professor started popping, becoming obsessed and then your lab exploded. Half of your research was recovered. The next thing you knew, Tony Stark himself showed up and he had Captain America in tow. It was a blur, all happening over a night and most of the next morning. Now you were hidden in a safe house, with the hero, who had insisted that you refer to him by name. "Mr Rog... Steve, is it necessary for me to still be here?"

"The professor is using your nano tech to attack Stark and use his bots to take over and attack the city. Once we've received the parts we need, you'll need to reverse engineer some things..." He trailed off when you looked utterly perplexed and hurt that your tech could be used in such a way.

"Okay, I'm nodding here and just pretending like I have some idea what you're talking about." You said quietly. He went to answer but something over the coms had him rushing to the window.

"Is everything ok?" You asked nervously.

"We're going to have to move safe houses again. I can't say how long for... we're also going to have to leave anything technological here so the team can lure the professor out." Steve explained. Your heart fell. This was the fourth safe house in a matter of hours. You wanted to lose your temper and dig your heels in.

"Ok. Here." You said quickly as you handed everything over.

"I'll be living with you undercover while you're gone. We should be fine." He said, crossing the room to lay a comforting hand on your shoulder.

"Ok. I think I'm ready." You said nervously. You hoped it would work. Their plan seemed to be to take you to some remote place, off the grid. He smiled and started to take off his coms and a few pieces of glowing equipment you couldn't identify.

"You good to go?" The assassin who had saved you last night asked him as she let herself in.

"Ready to go old school." Steve grumbled before giving you a sheepish smile.

"We'll have back up nearby but most of the team will be looking for your old professor. We don't know how long this will take." Nat explained as she turned to you. She gave you a pitying look when you sighed and nodded.
"I built that tech to help people. I'll do whatever you think I should do, so that actually happens." You replied and she nodded.

"You're going to have to leave the shield." She pointed out as Steve headed to the door. "You'll blow her cover the minute that thing is spotted."
