As you may say, something always drew Yunhee back to the same table in the end. In the meantime, she was sitting on a chair, back on her feet again – more or less. Still holding her leg in pain, pulling a face like life was giving her too many lemons, she looked up at her boss who's face you could read the whole story from.
He was not amused – not in the slightest.
However, he was kind enough to bring Yunhee a towel as well as some ice which she could lay on her already treated wound. Knowing about first aid was probably the only thing school had been good for.
"How is the dog bite doing?" he asked almost feeling guilty.
Luna, on the other hand, which was his dog's lovely name, turned out to be a wolf in sheep's clothing. Absolutely no one would have expected her to attack someone. But this was proven so wrong tonight.
Now she was sitting next to Yunhee without acting up once, tongue out, her eyes half-closed, as she was looking extremely innocent. As if she couldn't even hurt a fly."Still hurting," Yunhee sighed in frustration as she looked up from the dog again.
"I hate to break it down to you, but that's what you deserve for breaking into my restaurant, darling."
Shame was taking the best of the teenage girl as their eyes met again.
"I didn't break-in. I just wanted to stay here for the night." Yunhee explained again, but what she said was no better. It almost seemed to have no effect on him, what so ever. She couldn't tell if he believed her or not but in one thing she was sure; he was angry.
With his head red as a tomato, she could almost see hot fume escaping his ears, as he placed his arms on the table and leaned in."Why did you do that? To steal something from here? Is anything missing because you better tell me right now," he asked – no already assumed, when Yunhee was still trying to find her words. Extremely offended but helpless at the same time, she questioned even more if her boss was even listening.
"No, I don't need your money. I just needed a place to stay for one night," she tried to talk to him again, not holding only her leg but her head as well. Now her eyes started to wander off, shifted through the room as she listened to his further words.
"You know, you're not allowed to do this. Especially without my permission. You can be delighted that I didn't call the cops," he remained solid as a rock as he repeated Yunhee's rights as an employee. First time listening to that bullshit."I'm sorry, sir. It was a one-time thing," she apologized again, "please don't punish me."
"Yes, it was a one-time thing. You can return your uniform, I don't want to see you here anymore." The owner of this place spoke his last word, as he shook his head in sheer disappointment. But just by the look of Yunhee's shocked expression as she realized that she just got fired and what this would mean for her future, the man in his early fifties knew that he destroyed her already difficult life even more. However, nothing could change his already made decision. He couldn't help it."You're a decent worker, Yunhee. I really like you. But now after this happening... how can I still trust you?" Although he continued talking to her, Yunhee had a hard time listening. Her mind was drifting away as he uttered his concerns. Instead, she was busy not to burst into anger or tears.
"I didn't even steal from you and this is what I get?" she quietly whined, biting her lips as she tried to make eye contact again. She didn't want to cry now – not here, not in front of his eyes. Once she promised, she would never show her weaknesses again. But he could tell anyway, that she was struggling with this more than anything."You gave a shit on the rules, Yunhee. You did a crime tonight – no matter what, you can't get away with this." According to her boss, that was everything left to say. His hands fell down on the table, like the judge's hammer. Then he got up from his chair which was the second hint that this conversation has now finally ended.
This was it. She had to leave.
Pursing her lips, Yunhee layed the bag filled with ice cubes down before slowly trying to stand up again. Her leg was still hurting that much, that she could barely put any weight on it. And if she did, she had to limp.
Due to this, a little surprised she was as her boss quickly interrupted her: "No rush."No rush? Yunhee's dry throat escaped a weak chuckle. Sure, dickhead. We don't want you to worry too much, right?
No, it wasn't only her bad mood that made her think that also the man's next question didn't help the situation. "Is there anyone I can inform? Maybe someone that could drive you home?"Yunhee clearly shook her head, disliking the idea of her mother nor her father to pick her up at this hour.
"I know you'd rather leave on your own, but I'm not sure if this is a good idea with this leg of yours. You should definitely go see a doctor tomorrow," he continued his preach which was out of good intentions but was only bugging the sixteen-year-old girl at that time.
"I will," she answered under her breath as she finally managed to stand straight."Could you do me a favour? Could you not tell my parents that I was here and call my cousin instead?" Yunhee suddenly asked as she got escorted to the exit of the restaurant. Luna was following them with a wiggling tail.
Although the look Yunhee received in response to her question was speaking for itself, she was still ignoring it. No ideas of hers seemed to be a good one in this man's eyes. But when she already thought about another one, he surprisingly gave in.
"Alright," he sighed before Yunhee gave him the attempt of a smile. Then she began to dictate him the number of Kim Namjoon. What a good way to meet again after 5 years, am I right?
