She lied.
That's all Zon can think as his fingers scroll past Zol's story on her laptop.
Betrayal. Anger. Hurt. Confusion.
He feels all of them in quick succession.
It had been an honest mistake. He wanted to quickly check on the lyrics Saifah had sent him, only for his phone to die on him. Zol's computer seemed like a logical substitution.
His eyes become blurry and his head begins to throb in sympathy.
Saifah leans down and kisses Zon softly, at first. Apprehensive even.
He clamps her laptop shut, not caring if he breaks it.
She had no right. No bloody right.
Zon grabs at his hair in frustration. He had trusted her, had trusted that the story wasn't dictating his burgeoning friendship with Saifah. He had become comfortable around Saifah, let his guard down.
He was so stupid.

Zon lies awake. It's past 3am.
Saifah had called him thrice, following which he had sent him a couple of messages, each getting more irate without any response from Zon.
Zon closes his eyes tight as he is assaulted with another flood of memories. Memories of him and Saifah, of a pair of sharp eyes becoming crescents as Saifah would grin, of that warm smile. The feeling of a warm hand squeezing his shoulder in reassurance.
It sucks.
And to think that everything was happening out of his sister's imagination. It was sick, it made him sick and -
Sad.
Zon can't believe that he is sad. Not because Zol lied to him. Not because he was an utter idiot to believe that Saifah and he could be just friends.
But because that meant everything was a figment of his imagination. Fake.
The warm feeling he got at the pit of his stomach was fake. Saifah's wide grin and smiling eyes, the way he had felt brave singing with his wavering voice in front of the crowd. Everything was fake.
Zon lets himself cry.

Saifah is waiting for him outside his faculty. His blue coat standing out in a sea of white shirts. Zon ducks into a corner. He isn't ready. What would he tell Saifah anyway?
Sorry but we shouldn't hang out because there's a 100% chance we will start dating because my sister says so.
Zon feels like a lunatic for even thinking of it.
"Zon."
Saifah is frowning, something Zon's not familiar with. Zon pushes past Saifah, marching towards his faculty.
"Ai'Zon! Zon! Where are you going?"
Zon ignores Saifah, quickening his steps.
But his short legs cannot outrun Saifah's lanky limbs and soon enough he feels a yank to his arm.
"Let me go!"
"I won't. Why are you ignoring me? What's wrong?"
Zon glares at Saifah, drawing himself up to his tiptoes and pushing Saifah as hard as he can.
