Alucard tossed and turned on the couch he had tried to rest on that night, unable to allow sleep to come to him. With a final sigh he rose from the couch he was laying on and walked out to the balcony and stared at the city. Light shone brightly across the land, as far as the eye could see. So much has changed since I was last here. I feel out of place, like I don't belong anymore. He thought to himself as he breathed in the fresh cool night air. The wind whipped his hair around his shoulders and neck. The blond strands of hair flying behind him like a lion's mane. Maybe I shouldn't have answered that wakeup call after all. This world seems to be just fine without the resurrection of the vampires. "Can't sleep?" Adam's voice broke through the vampire's thoughts.
"Oh, my apologies." Alucard said turning to see Adam standing in the doorway to the balcony. He was wearing nothing more than sweatpants. His tattooed body was lit brightly by the city lights. For the first time since they met Alucard felt like he was finally seeing the man. "I didn't mean to wake you up." The vampire bowed his head in respect to his host.
"It's alright. I couldn't sleep anyways." Adam said walking closer to the vampire. Looking him in the eyes he finally saw through the mask the vampire had on all day. He was filled with pain and sorrow.  Like he had seen the beginning and the end of the world ten times over. "Something wrong?"
"No. it's just.... Times have changed so much. I don't feel like I belong in this world anymore." Alucard wasn't lying. This is how he truly felt. Do I trust him with what I really am? Or would he be safer in the dark as to what I am. So many thoughts were going through the vampire's mind he felt like it might explode and all he wanted to do was sit down and cry.
"You're crying." Adam said walking closer to the vampire. "What's on your mind? I'm more than willing to listen."
"W-what?" The vampire was confused and his hand slowly reached for his eye to find that a few tears had fallen. "I-just.. I don't know."
"Hey, everything is going to be alright." Adam reached his arms out and embraced the vampire holding him tight. "I'll be here if you ever need someone you can talk to. Okay?" Adam slowly let go of the Vampire and smiled.
"Why would you do that for me?" Alucard asked, turning to him. "You hardly know me."
'You don't have to know someone to know when they need a friend." Adam said smiling up at the vampire. "It's ok to cry. It's what makes you human."
"H-human?" Alucard stared down at the man, "you think im human?"
"Sure you are. We are all humans in our own ways." Adam said smiling. "In some way or another you're just as human as anyone else."
If only you knew. Alucard thought to himself. "Well, that means a lot. I appreciate you telling me that." just as Adam was about to say something the wind shifted letting Alucard know that danger was coming. Out of the corner of his eye he saw something lurking in the shadows. "Get down!" Alucard said grabbing Adam's hand just as he did an arrow flew into the doorframe right where he had been standing.
"What...what's going on?" Adam said a look of horror embraced his face. "Who is shooting arrows at us?"
"That shot was for me." Alucard said standing up reaching his hand out, he called on his vampire magic to call his sword to him. "It looks like they found me."
"Who found you?" Adam said still crouched down hiding from more potential arrows.
"Someone who wants to make sure I don't stop whatever they are planning." Alucard said as his sword flew from its former resting position near the door.
"Adam please stay down. This will only take a moment." Alucard drew the sword from its sheath and took his battle stance, ready to defend his friend.
