I love winter. I love the hot chocolate with marshmallows melting into the whipped cream, snuggling up with candles burning, blankets draped over me, and most of all a brilliant book. I love the anticipation of snow, and the happiness it brings. I love the rain, whether it is heavy or light. I love the big jumpers and hot homemade soup that burns my tongue. I walked inside of the ice skating rink trying to find Harry. I loved figure skating more than anything in my life and finally, Harry and I were going. I rounded the corner and sat down on a bench to put on my skates. When I tied them, I've put on the blade guards and walked over to the entrance. There he was. He was like the Sun. He had people orbiting around him; some were so close it burned them, some were so far they were the coldest they could be because they wanted to be closer. The lucky ones were in the perfect distance to feel his warmness. In one way or another, all the people that met him felt attracted to him. And me? Well, that's easy. He is a magnet drawing me to him. And there's that thought inside my head that says "There's something about him..."
Harry caught me by surprise by hugging me. I got so lost in my thoughts that I haven't even noticed he said something. My cheeks were suddenly kissed pink like a spring rose, the blooming color blossomed against my skin. A smile formed on Harry's lips. There was something about the way he smiled; the way butterflies seemed to escape from the pit of his stomach and the way the sun had somehow toppled down from the sky and made a home right there in his heart. He had the kind of smile that made you feel happy to be alive and just that little bit more human. He took my hand and pulled me on the ice. I couldn't remove a smile from my face. What I loved the most about skating is the sound of your blades on the ice in the morning. Wow.
''Lucy. Do a spin for me please?!'', Harry asked me looking me through his eyelashes. His eyes were green. The kind of green that pushed its way through the piles of gritty snow to remind you that spring was coming. The kind of green that budded on the prisoners of winter, bringing life back to their branches. That churning, passionate green that the ocean turns during a storm. That color of the forest after it rains. The color of the tadpoles making ripples in the pond. That green color that brings hope and life no matter what has happened. And looking into those eyes, I could see it. And he knew that I could. I smiled back at him and nodded my head.
I was spinning on one-foot spin while holding the other foot extended over and behind my head, forming a teardrop shape with my body. I laid my head back and did my best to keep the balance while waiting for the rotation to slow down a bit. When I came to a stop I skated in a circle building my speed. I took a long glide on a left on a left leg in a wide arc into the corner of the rink. Just prior to jumping, I reached back with the right arm and the right foot and used the right toe pick to vault me into the air, before performing three full turns in the air and landing on the right edge.
''I'm telling you, Lucy. You should definitely train skating.'', he said to me while I tried to catch my breath. ''Oh, no Harry. I just really love it. Now cmon.'', I pulled him with me.
He twirled around trying to do some moves pulling his coat back in the air. I couldn't stop myself from laughing. It was a laughter that I could feel in my lungs, so hard that it took my breath away. The lack of oxygen didn't matter. Harry took my hand and we skated in a circle around a flickering Christmas tree. Suddenly, he pulled me towards him making me collide with his chest. I looked up into his face and just by looking into those green eyes of his I felt the world around me disappear.
Harry's fingers gently ran up and down my spine, coaxing shivers out of me. With my cheeks blushing hotly, I glanced back up into his captivating green eyes. He leaned down, resting his forehead against mine. I watched breathlessly as his eyes studied mine with silent intensity. His warm breath ghosted across my face. I shut my eyes in anticipation. I stifled a surprised gasp as his soft lips captured mine, causing my body to flush with heat. The heat seemed to travel through my veins, warming me. As cheesy as it sounds, it's just like the movies. For that single moment, time stops. I don't care about the people around us, in fact, I don't even notice them. It's just him and me. Just as I felt a rush of euphoric bliss envelop me, making my heart sing with pure joy, Harry drew away. I instantly missed the lovely heat curling within me. He placed his forehead on mine and said: ''Were we ever strangers? I'm not sure we were. That day I first saw you there was something even then, though I didn't know what. I wonder if there's an element of time that allows us to feel a strong love, like an orange glow bursting over a dark horizon. It was light for our eyes only, something to carry us through this life. It was the dawn of the person I am today, the person I was destined to be. I would give up anything in the world for you, I would do anything to keep you safe. Though I work hard to keep you comfortable now and into our old age, I'd rather be poor in money than risk losing your heart. I recall the day our bond was forged. It was like being let into the warmth after a lifetime of winter. I could never wish to go back to even a day before that. You are the greatest treasure of my life, the one, the only one.'', Harry spoke. His voice singing the most beautiful melody for my ears.
