"LOL!" said Claire. "Guess what?"

"What?" asked Saige in an uninterested mood. Claire didn't seem to notice. "I asked out Jacob!"

"WHAT?!" yelled Saige, standing up so fast knocking down her desk. "YOU. DID. NOT!" Everyone around her glared. She blushed and picked up her desk.

"What?" she hissed at Claire. "What was his reaction?"

Claire blushed. "Oh, I know that blush from anywhere!" yelled Saige. "OMG, THIS IS SO GOOD!"

She noticed that Adalyn, the strange girl, was looking over.

Smiling.

"Oh my gosh, look at her," said Saige. "So fricking ugly. No guy is ever going to like her. Ever." Saige and Claire laughed rudely and Adalyn asked the teacher if she could use the bathroom.

Adalyn looked at her self in the mirror. She wasn't that ugly. No, she was quite pretty, actually. She had hazel brown, wavy hair that came to her waist. She was tall and had a slim waist. But they were right. No guy would ever like her.

Because of her eyes.

Adalyn had inherited her eye from her great-grandmother, who was a huge flirt. Everyone had loved her great-grandmothers eyes. Adalyn had inherited her other eye from her grandfather, who had deep grey eyes.

Adalyn's eyes were mismatched. People found that scary. But then again, there was also her social wealth. And status.

Everyone at school figured that Adalyn was really poor. But she wasn't. Her father was a ridiculously rich billionaire. Her father was Cent Door. Bill Gates' brother. Her mother was a famous supermodel. So Adalyn was a pampered, gorgeous girl. But no one knew that. In 7th grade, when Adalyn had worn designer clothing and no make-up to school, and contact lenses, everyone had loved her. But they actually hadn't. All of her friends were fake. Her boyfriend was a gold digger. Everyone didn't love her. Everyone loved her connections and her money.

So, in high school senior year, Adalyn had decided to wear the same outfit to school everyday: black ripped jeans, a black button down shirt, black Adidas, and a golden necklace. She had multiple of the jeans, the shirt and the Adidas. But she only had one golden necklace. That necklace was her grandmother's, Jill. Jill had passed away two years ago and that had deeply affected Adalyn. Jill had drowned in the Pacific Ocean when she was swimming with Adalyn. Adalyn had first drowned. But Jill had rescued her. And died. The necklace, which had been Jill's favorite possession, had been given to Adalyn. It had a sun and a moon combined together.

Other than the repetitive outfit, Adalyn wore make-up. She made herself look less pretty. She didn't wear contacts.

She looked ugly.

Claire and Saige were at the top of the social pyramid. Jacob was, too.

Claire wasn't that attractive. She was the typical high school mean girl. But she wasn't mean, she was actually really nice and smart, too. Saige was the mean one. But she was the sidekick and that was all she'd ever be.

Jacob had brown hair, deep grey eyes and light freckles. He was good-looking and smart. He treated Adalyn like a nobody, just like everyone else. Jacob was literally everyone's crush. He was the perfect guy. But Adalyn had no chance with him as he didn't even know that she existed.

Adalyn looked at herself in the mirror and smiled mysteriously. That smile was one that not a lot of people saw. Adalyn loved her life. She was rich as frick at home and a "normal" person at school.

Adalyn walked back to class. She entered the room and took her seat. The teacher continued his lecture. Claire and Saige were whispering to each other and occasionally glancing at her.

Adalyn smiled and turned to her textbook.
