A.N. Hi guys, read, follow and review. Enjoy!
It started off as a normal day, you know. I got up when my cousin Dudley jumped on the stairs above where I was sleeping, yes I sleep under the stairs in a small closet. I rolled out of bed and placed my feet in the small space next to the door, as always it was hard to get dressed in the cramped space but I managed it. I went into the kitchen to start breakfast, it wouldn't be good to be late making breakfast on a school day.
I took out a pan and started frying some eggs and bacon. My stomoach rumbled and I was just about to take a piece, to test if it was cooked or not, when a voice came to me from the doorway, "Don't even think about it." My cousin Dudley. One day I would get back at him for all of these years of torment, ever since my parents died when I was one I have been living with my cousin, aunt and uncle. They didn't want me but they couldn't give me away so instead they make me do all the chores around the house. I cook, I clean and I do anything else they tell me to. In a way it is payment for giving me a place to sleep and food to eat.
While putting the eggs and bacon onto three plates I turned on the coffee maker. I brought the dishes to the table right as my aunt and uncle sat down, I sighed in relief that I had timed it right. Turning, I noticed the coffee was almost ready so I got out two mugs and poured the drink into them. Not two seconds later my uncle called from the table, "Where's my coffee boy?" I set the mugs on the table and moved to stand against the wall, I was not permitted to sit or eat with the family. I would get to eat the leftovers once they had all had their fill, usually they finshed breakfast but sometimes I got lucky. Today I knew they would also need me to make the lunches so instead of watching everyone eating I decded to get started on the tedious task.
Lunch was the only meal where I got the same thing as Dudley, our school had very specific restrictions on what we were allowed to bring, this ensured that every student in the school had nutritous meals at school.
Just when I was finishing up clearing the counters from the mess of preparing lunch, my uncle called me again, "What are you waiting for boy? Do you think the dishes are going to clean themselves?" I picked up the dishes and cleaned off the table then headed to the sink to start washing, my aunt and uncle don't believe in dish washers, apparently them feel that they are a waste of money and that the task of having to wash things is very educational for young boys. I find it a waste of time.
While I was cleaning and wahing, the rest of the family were waching the news, they always did this in the morning, it also gave them a chance to put restrictions on me, if I wasn't done washing in time (by the end of the news reel) they wouldn't give me dinner that night, it was a fairly easy rule but it always left me rushing as fast as I could, I only had five minutes.
Once the news finished we got into the car and went to school. School was always a miserable place for me. I tried to make friends but everyone knew that if they were ever nice to me, they would have Dudley's gang after them. It wouldn't have been too much of a problem except for the fact that the teachers in my school treated the kids by how popular and well known they were, that put me at the bottom of every class.
* * * Brrrrriiiiiiiinnnngggg!!! The bell for lunch rang and I scrambled out of my seat. I stuffed all my work into my bag and grabbed my lunch. I flew out of the classroom only pausing to open doors. I was very hungry because the night before I hadn't gotten dinner and this morning I didn't get the chance to eat either. I found a big tree and sat behind it, hiding from view. Maybe I could get through my whole lunch before the gang came to find me. I started eating, it was so good and I was soon onto the second half of the sandwhich. I knew my time was running out so I hurridly took a few more bites.
With only three bites left I felt rather than saw the group surround me. Without looking up I gulped and swallowed, I put the rest of my lunch in my bag and stood up. "You realy sprinted out of the class there, were you running from someone Potter?" I knew better than to respond. Please lets just get this over with. "Was it something scary?" Their taunts really weren't getting better with time, I think it only got worse. "Maybe a ghost?" This guy looked over his shoulder as if asking a question and I glanced at the boy he was looking at, it was Dudley.
He stood against a tree as if he were too good for this teasing sesion, maybe he got a pass on an assignment or something that put him into this superior mood. Dudley looked at me on the word ghost and smirked, "Did you see the ghost of your parents, Potter? Was your father looking at you in horror? I mean I know you really have no talent but compared to him, I would've though he would be proud." He didn't! I didn't think about what I was doing I just ran forwards and punched Dudley in the face, he does not get to insult me and my parents like that. He doesn't know anything about my parents.
The moment my fist made contact wth his face I realised what I had done. Though the teachers might not take notice when a scrawny little nobody like me got beat up, they would defiinitly notice if Dudley got punched in the face. I also realised that Dudley's gang had started to close in on me, they would gve me a real beating for this one. As I saw it, there was no choice, I looked for an opening in the circle and ran throught it, I kept running because I knew they would catch up soon. While running I tried to look for somewhere to hide, there were still thirty more minutes of lunch left and I needed to get out of reach. I ran around the side of the school and spotted my target, the garbage bins, if I could just jump high enough to get on top. I could hear the sound of running footsteps and looked back, behind me the gang and a few other random kids were chasing and gaining on me. I ran a few more steps, made my decision, closed my eyes and jumped. I was surprised when I landed on my feet but the real shock came when I opened my eyes and realised I was on the roof of the school.
