I had to find a way to convice Sam that I was fine before he leaves. I knew that if I didn't he would worry and I couldn't risk that getting in the way of his dream. I was just going to have to put on an act. It'll be like Freshman year all over again, except he's not going to find out this time. I must have stood in front of the mirror for like three hours trying to make myself convincing while I picked out an outfit to wear to the Party. I finally decided on a navy sleeveless tank and red shorts.
I heard Sam pulled into the drive way. "Okay, Tatum you can do this. Act normal." I said to myself. I took a deep breath and walked out to the family room to get the door but my Aunt had already gotten the door.
"Oh there she is. You guys have fun tonight." She said. I smiled.
"Ready?" Sam asked me.
"OH! Tay? I'm not going to be home tonight. I have to go out of town last minute for work. Michigan! There was an attempted murder in Farmington Hills and they asked me to cover the news story and interview the victoms. I'm sorry its so last minute. I'll leave you some money on the counter I should be home Friday."My Aunt said. Friday.... two days away. Great.
"Okay. Thanks for letting me know. Have a good trip." I nodded at Sam and we were off.
"Be safe I love you" she said shutting the door behind us.
The car ride was mainly silent. I think we both felt a little bit down about Sam leaving although I would think he would be more excitented then upset. We paused for a minute before getting out of the car.
"You can stay at my place tonight if you'd like." Sam offered. I so badly wanted to accept the offer but I had to stay strong.
"Thanks, but I'll be alright." And with that it was party time.
There were so many people. I had no idea Lou knew this many people.
"Hey Sam, Tatum. Glad you two could make it." Lou Said.
"Hi Lou." I replied giving him a hug. "Hey Max!" I said as he apprached me from behind giving me a huge hug. Max was amazing he always knew how to make me laugh. Across the room I spotted Lou's Sister Carie.
"I'll be right back guys." I said. I walked over to Carie who greeted me with a big hug. We talked for a while before this guy walked up behind us.
"Hey Carie, whos your friend?" He asked
"Oh this is Tatum. Tatum this is Mark."
"Hi." I said I did get the best feeling from him so I tried to keep it short and sweet but that didn't get rid of him.
