What is the Bootcamp Mentorship Program?

Serving the Wattpad writing community since 2020, the Bootcamp Mentorship Program sprouted from an idea between Wattpad Stars who wanted to help other writers polish their Wattys stories. And this is what we've been doing through one-on-one mentoring and workshops. Not to mention, we've grown into a wonderfully rich and supportive community, both on Wattpad and Discord.

In 2024, the Bootcamp Mentors expanded the program in order to better serve our evolving community. Writers will still be able to apply to mentors for help with their stories, however these stories no longer need to be destined for entry into a Wattpad-hosted contest. Of course, the program still focuses on helping writers prepare a written work they can be proud of, and we fully support and celebrate our writers who enter their stories into contests.

What is a Boot Camp Mentee? And how do I become one?

Boot Camp Mentees are blossoming writers who are still in the learning stages of their writing journey. With a passion for storytelling, these motivated writers are ready to step outside their comfort zone in order to improve. If this is you, and you're excited to take advantage of this rare opportunity, we invite you to apply to our mentorship during the submission window.

If you're chosen by one of our Boot Camp Mentors, you'll spend twelve weeks working together on the story of your choice. During this time, you'll have access to your mentor for feedback and advice. You'll also be joining BCM's super supportive Discord community, where feedback is ongoing and camaraderie is unlimited. Writing may be solitary, but improving the craft of writing is a team effort.

After you've completed the mentorship, there's a good chance your story will be ready to submit to a Wattpad contest! And, in the spirit of healthy promotion, BCM will feature the first chapter of your story in our Mentee Showcase (chpt must not contain mature content).

If you want to know how to apply, head to the chapter titled How To Apply To a Boot Camp Mentor in our 2026 Boot Camp Mentorship book. After the mentorship is over, former mentees have the option of remaining on the BCM team as Boot Camp Graduates. Our graduates play a big role in helping usher in a new generation of mentees, and some have even become mentors themselves.

I'm a Creator and I'm interested in working with a mentor.

Over the years, we've received many applications from Creators who are looking for help with one of their stories. We understand that no matter where we are on our journey as writers, there is always room for growth. It's why we have not disallowed Creators from applying to the mentorship program and have devised ways we can offer support to these writers.

First, there's the option of finding a critique partner. Our Critique Partner Pro Search was designed to pair Creators and Originals writers with their peers. Of course, both parties must be willing to exchange feedback.

Alternatively, we've included a 'dual mentee' stipulation. Should a Creator be chosen as a mentee, their mentor must also choose a writer who is not a Creator. Both writers will be welcomed as Boot Camp Mentees and participate alongside their fellow mentees during the twelve weeks.

Do you host any events?

Yes we do, because we're committed to paying it forward, and our former mentees play an important role in the passing on of knowledge. These Boot Camp Graduates host a live Ask a Mentee Q&A event on BCM's Discord server, which always occurs before our mentorship session kicks off. During this event, hopeful mentees can learn what it's like to work with a mentor, and get to know a few of our mentors. Look for more details in the Ask a Mentee chapter and the 2026 Timeline chapter.
