Almost as if the only events in my newly acquired life happens solely during the day and late at night, evening grows darker and I'm lying if I say I'm not expecting something to happen.
Whether it's from anticipation or dread, I don't know.
Just because something happened for the past few nights in a row, doesn't mean there is going to be one every night. I'm not getting addicted to these nightly endeavours, am I? Yeah, right.
Whatever I'm just going to sleep.
That's what I thought but the second afternoon nap I had earlier after what happened in the cinema room doesn't exactly help. It's all because of him! Messing up my sleeping schedule.
Now I'm just tossing and turning, wishing for something to knock me unconscious so I can finally sleep and stop thinking.
...
I am not going this time.
It wasn't even my fault. I didn't know and I'm pretty sure he knows that too!
...
I'm not going. I'm notgoingI'mnotgoingI'mnotgoing.
I'm not going!
A muffled cry of frustration screams out of my throat as I violently thrashed on the bed. Settling down, my eyes stray to my bedroom.
Nope. I look away. Nopenopenopenopenopenopenopenope.
Knocks come from my door, paralyzing me. As I stare at the door, I slowly sit up from my bed.
He doesn't knock. Zua isn't coming in. Ruby and Jade would have said something by now.
I move out of the bed and open the door.
"Code?" My brows furrow in confusion.
"Hey, Rii." The boy gives me a wave before tucking his hands back into his pockets.
"What are you doing here?" I open the door wider.
"I just want to apologize on Zac's behalf." He rocks on his feet nervously. "He didn't mean what he said and you-"
"So you agree that he should be the one apologizing." I arch a brow and he bites his lips.
"Kind of...? I mean, yeah. He did say some stuff, but-"
"Then, he should be standing here saying sorry to me. Not you." I cross my arms.
"Yeah..." His eyes look away. "I don't think he'll be coming out of his basement anytime soon. Might even be days until he does. Or weeks. Or months. Or-"
"I get it, Code." I raise a hand to stop him.
"So..." He trails off.
"So...?"
"Maybe if your argument between you and Zac is resolved, then that might not happen...?" Code gives me a sheepish smile and I throw him a look.
"Self-centred jerks. You're both made for each other." I roll my eyes. "Go back to your room, Code."
"Please, Rii." Code stops the door from closing. "It's just more fun when Zac is up here and not holed up in his work."
I look into his pleading eyes and sigh.
"Fine. I'll handle it, alright? See, I'm going now." I step out of my room and close the door. Whipping my head, I shoot a glare at him. "You don't care about me, do you, Code? You just care about you and Zacturre."
"What? No!" He tries to persuade me. "This is for your sake too. Believe me. And I appreciate you doing this from the bottom of my heart, Rii. I owe you one."
