Ch. 1 The Encountering

  I was running so fast it seemed my feet were not even touching the ground. When I got there, opening the doors, the whole building was empty. No one was here, I checked everywhere, the school was dead, everyone left for evacuation..except me. I began to panic, my anxiety kicking in, my inner thoughts screaming at me, "WHY DID THEY LEAVE! HOW COULD THEY LEAVE ME HERE ALONE! I'M ALONE! I'M ALONE! I'M ALONE! I'M GONNA DIE HERE ALONE! AAAAAHHHH!!"

  I curled up on the stairs of the science building, bawling my eyes out. After I calmed down, I had to think of a plan, I had to get more supplies, I only had a semi huge backpack with the stuff I have, which was enough food for a week, and the only weapons I had were a tactic knife and a glass breaker pen. I have to think of a plan and fast.

  I went to the 7-11 near the school, feeling terrified of getting eaten or slaughtered. Luckily it wasn't swarmed with walkers, only a few of them were there, I had to sneak in to avoid getting caught. I sneaked behind a car that had the windows broken and a dead body in it, which made me gag and nearly puked but had to brush it off. I looked inside the convenient store, the whole store was boarded up, except for one of the glass doors, I sneaked to the door, trying to open it, but it felt like someone was holding the door back from me opening it. I began to panic, hearing the walkers coming towards me, "They're coming! They're coming FUCK!" my mind yelling at me over and over again, I pulled the door with all my might, and finally the door opened, I rushed in and immediately closed the door, locking it. I slid down the door and closed my eyes, trying to catch my breath, and when I finally opened them, I was, I was ecstatic to see my long friends, still alive!

"Oh my fucking god.." I said, almost tearing up, "You...you guys...are alive!!" I ran up to them, hugging them while bawling. My friends were Laura, Brian, Elisa, and Kana, and they were alive...alive. They calmed me down after a few minutes of me crying, they're also happy to see me too, crying a little with me. I asked "Where's the rest of the gang? Did they evacuate too?"

  They fell silent, unable to respond to the question. Elisa spoke up finally "Some did evacuate, like Kirsten, Jean, and Raz..they left, heading to Los Angeles..but.." she cut off, almost tearing up. Kana hugged her trying to calm her down, "Fran, Adrecelly, and Jayven..are not here..they tried and scavenge for food a few days ago..but..never came back, Eliana is gone, after a huge argument with Laura, she left..we don't know if they're still alive, or not." Kana said, sadness taking over everyone.

  I was silent, hearing that made my heart sank "..shit..that..that's horrible..I'm so sorry.." I said, feeling bad I couldn't say goodbye to my dearest friends. The whole room fell silent until we heard some shuffling in the storage room, I got my knife out, putting my guard up, while Kana and Laura had weapons and went with me to find out what's in that room. Eventually, we saw two girls fell out of that room, one had semi poofy short brown hair with dyed blond bangs, and the other girl also had short but wavy-ish dyed red hair. Kana yelled before I said anything "WHO THE HELL ARE Y'ALL??!" she yelled, scaring the two girls, possibly being twins. The brunette haired girl spoke up first, "Um..our names are Nova and Pear..W-we thought we were the only ones here..but since your group of..friends got here, we had to hide, so we hid, taking some food whenever they were asleep.."

  Pear spoke up, "We were here before you guys showed up! So this is our turf!" she yelled, trying to make us leave. "We are not fucking leaving. We are staying whether you like it or not". Laura said, sounding intimidating, not afraid to fight them. Elisa stepped in before any of us did anything. "Hey...let's not try to fight...look." She turned to Nova, "I get that you guys were here before us, I get it, y'all are trying to survive and we are too, but we can make this work, we can try and be friends, we can work together and survive together." She said, hoping to convince the two girls so we didn't need to fight for territory. Silence fell in the room once again, but it was interrupted by loud banging on the doors, walkers.

  We had to plan quickly and fast, one of the glass doors broke and arms were clawing at the door, trying to get in. Kana ran up to the walkers out of instinct, dodging their arms and stabbing their heads, avoiding their acid blood splattering everywhere. Elisa and Laura barricaded the remaining glass door, both of them yelling "FIND THE WOOD, HURRY!!" They both yelled in unison. Brian led me to the wood, getting hammers and nails, we ran back to the doors and started to barricade them with the wood.

  Meanwhile, the two girls stared at us, shocked and a bit surprised, they smiled and whispered to each other "Boss will love these guys." Pear said, "Yeah, they'll be perfect helpers and fighters for the army, but we should try and get on their good sides so we can tell Boss their location soon." Nova said, snickering a little. After a while of boarding up and barricading the doors, we were safe, we can still hear the walkers clawing the doors, but the wood was strong enough to stop them.

  We were exhausted, tired of defending the 7-11 with walkers, "Should we try and look for another...base to stay in since there are a lot of walkers around here." I said, hoping to get an answer. They whispered, some agreeing and some disagreeing, eventually, Laura spoke up "Well we could try and find another base, but for now we should stay here until something happens." she said, the rest of the gang agreed..unlike the two girls, that were still whispering.

"Ahem." said everyone, most were partially glaring at the girls, the girls looked at us, snapping out of whatever they were doing. Pear spoke, "What do you guys want?" sounding annoyed, "We were just talking about how we, including you too, might look for another base soon since it's swarming a little with walkers pretty fast.." Kana said. "Well, that's good news you prick." Pear said, almost growling, Nova punched her arm, signaling what she just said to her.

"Hey! Stop that you ass-" "Fucking remember what I just told you idiot.." Nova cut in. "Ugh fine, whatever" Pear said, clearly annoyed. "We think we should find a new base soon too, I might have a suggestion for our new base." Nova smiled, everyone wanted to go to this new base soon, everyone...except Laura and me, we looked at each other and we had this feeling we cannot trust them had a strong feeling that they had something planned, something bad.
