Greetings to all!
■ The official judging will start from the second week of April 2020 ■
NOTE - The deadline for entries is 10th April 2020. And, it is a sincere request that please read this page carefully.
Some basic principles on which your book will be judged:
● Title/Cover:-
Is the title or the cover eye-catching? Is the title or the plot related to the cover? Is the title clear? Is the author's name or the username clear?
These are the points kept in mind before giving the score.● Synopsis:-
Does the blurb makes you want to read the book? Does it leave a suspense at the last? Is the grammar used correct or is there any fault in the spellings?
Remember that no one would like to read your story if the summary is not good enough.
The above points are to be kept in mind.● Plot:-
Does the plot have an interesting start? Does the ending makes you wanna read more? Is the story flowing smoothly or it is rather fast-paced and you are not able to catch up on the details? Is the layout of the paragraphs up to the mark? Are the descriptions given in an appropriate manner?
Read the points carefully.● Characters:-
This is one of the main aspects of the story. Do you feel connected to the characters? Is the author able to show conflict between them? Is the character described appeal to you?
Keep in mind all the points.● Grammar & Vocabulary:-
Not much to say on this one. The tense, verb, determines, sentence structure, etc. all should be kept in mind. The judges are requested to specially focus on punctuation errors, as they are the most likely to happen in any story. Spellings should also be specifically kept in mind.
● Creativity & Originality:-
This aspect is related to how the authors make their books their own! How much authentic or original the book actually is? Does the author use creative sense of words?
● Divine Factor:-
Was there anything extra, anything thrilling or exciting, which made you give more marks? Did the writer get less in grammar and spelling and deserved more because of how imaginative their story was? You can also call it as the 'X' factor of the story.
Add-ons For Poetry:-
● Grammar & Vocabulary:-
Does the poet respect the language conventions and provide punctuation/tense/poetic structure to aid the reader in understanding of the poem? Do spelling errors interrupt the flow of the poem’s language? (lower case letters are fine, but must fully understand word)
● Creativity, Originality (Form/Style/Rhythm):-
How much authentic or original the book actually is? Does it have an unique voice and perspective? Are the Style/Rhymes/Form natural and sensible or artificial and forced? (also includes Free Verse)
● Mood (Convey feeling & emotion):-
Does the poem illustrate its message? Can I feel the feelings and/or visualize the images presented? How significant are those images to the purpose of the poem?● Evidence of Understanding/Comprehension:-
Does the ideas presented hang together to create a whole? Is there “meaning” to the writing, and is that meaning realized? Basically, can I understand what you're talking about?
● Significance/Importance:-
Does the poem deal with the human experience, and if so, to what extent is the poem successful in adding to our understanding?
