//warnings: heavy stutter, mention of injury

David's POV-

My eyes slowly fluttered open and I glanced around, feeling that I was in Daniel's arms again.

I looked up at him and saw that he was asleep. I never got to see him asleep... it was weird. I wondered how someone so dark and scary and mean could look so peaceful.

I watched him for a moment before wincing and glancing at my arm, which ached slightly. Oh yeah.. Daniel gave me a shot..

I wondered what he did while I was out. My ribs felt better and it was a little easier to breathe.

He shifted slightly in his sleep and pulled me closer, which made me flinch. I relaxed pretty quickly at realizing he was still asleep. It felt kind of nice to be cuddled so close..

I lied there for a moment, just thinking.. my leg suddenly started to hurt after Daniel shifted again and I glanced down, seeing that his leg was on top of my hurt one.

I gave a soft whimper, scared to wake Daniel up. Would he get angry if I woke him..?

I tried to sit through the pain but I couldnt take it. It hurt so bad.

"D-daddy..?" I started softly, gently poking his chest. He didn't budge.

"Daddy-- w-w-wake up-p.." I poked a little harder. I saw him react, but he didn't open his eyes.

"D-d-daddy--" I furrowed my eyebrows, trying to swallow down my stutters. I used to never stutter.. I don't know why I am.

He grumbled, pulling me closer and putting more pressure on my foot. I couldn't hold back a yelp, bringing a hand up to cover my mouth.

He opened his eyes and tilted his head at me. "Hm..?" He hummed softly in question.

"M-my foot-t-" I squeaked out softly, watching as he glanced down and moved his leg off. I started to relax again, feeling the pain go away.

"Mm.. sorry.." he let go of me and rolled onto his back, stretching with a yawn. I wiped the tears from my eyes and gave him a weary look.

..maybe I could ask him why I was stuttering now that he was awake..

Daniel glanced over at me and raised an eyebrow. "What's that look for?" He asked. I didn't notice I was making a face.

"Oh-- u-um..." I hesitated, unsure of how to ask what I wanted to. "..w-why am I... st-t-tuttering so bad..?" I asked with a confused look.

Daniel gave a slight grin, rolling back over to cuddle me again. He gently tapped my head. "That's cuz your little head couldn't handle all the times I hit it.." he chuckled softly.

I gave a confused look. What did that mean? I stuttered because he hit me?

He must have noticed my look, because he elaborated. "One of those times your head hit something must have damaged your brain. And now you have a stutter."

"H-how do we get r-r-rrid of it?" I don't want to stutter forever.

"Why would you want to?" He tilted his head at me.

"It's.." I pursed my lips as I thought for a moment. "It's hard to t-t-talk..-" I explained. Saying what I wanted to was difficult. It took too much time.

Daniel smiled at that. "I know it is, baby.. and I think it's adorable." He leaned down to kiss me gently, but I didn't kiss back. "I can hear the struggle in your voice.. I love it."

I frowned at that. So he wouldn't be able to help me get rid of it.. because he liked it. "B-but--" he cut me off with a piercing glare, causing me to stiffen in his arms.

He stared at me cautiously before giving a soft smile and standing up, lifting me out of the bed. "I've got some work to do, baby.. you go hang out in your room."

I tilted my head at him, wondering what work he had to do. I didn't complain, though. Maybe I could figure something out with this alone time.

He brought me across the hallway into my room and sat me on the floor in front of my window. It wasn't very bright, and I heard rain hit against it.

"Don't move too much, baby. If you keep taking it easy you'll be okay to move on your own in just a few days." He spoke before kissing me on the forehead and going over to the door. I brought my good leg in closer to my body and waved him goodbye, watching the door close.

I waited for a moment before glancing down and gulping. "D-d-don't stutt-ter.." I started.

"Don't-t-t st-tutter. D-don't stut-tter-r. Don't st-t-t-t--" I shook my head, giving a frustrated glare. "St-t-t-" the word wouldn't even come out. "T-t-tut-tt-t-er!" I clenched my fists as I finished the sentence.

If I kept practicing, I'd be able to control it, right?

So I tried that. For what felt like hours that's all I did.

Daniel's POV-

I sat at my desk, trying to do my work. My phone was buzzing like crazy, but it always did that. People watching the live liked to send compliments and requests.

I often ignored it, but after about an hour I decided to check, wondering how David was doing anyways.

I furrowed my eyebrows, skimming through the DM's and comments I was getting.

"He's trying to fix his stutter"
"He's training his stutter to go away"
"Aww look, she's trying to get rid of her stutter.."
"LMAOOO 'D-d-d-d-don't st-t-tut-t-t-ter"
"Poor kid"
"Her stutter is so cute"
"Should he be trying to get rid of his stutter?"

I gave a confused look and checked the camera's, turning the audio on. David was sitting criss cross on the floor, looking determined.

"D... d.. don't. Stut.. ter." He growled at himself. "Don't... stut-t-t-t-- gah!!" He slammed his fist against his own thigh in frustration. "D-don't!!"

I gave a slight grin at watching him struggle. It was so cute, but I needed to stop him before he made any actual progress.

I exited the room and walked up to the door, pressing my ear against it.

"Just--" He gave a soft sob. "..don't-t.. st-t-tutter.." he sounded like he gave up. I could hear the tears in his voice.

I frowned, knocking gently on the door before opening it. He jolted and quickly started to wipe his tears away, staying quiet. He knew he was doing something wrong, then..

"What's up, Davey?" I asked softly, walking over and sitting behind him, pulling him against my lap. "You look like you've been crying.."

He gave a soft whine, covering his eyes. He didn't respond, he just held his breath to try and stop himself from crying.

I wanted to hear his excuse, so I asked. "Why were you crying, hun?"

He gave a soft sob, cuddling up against my chest. "I d-d-don't like m-my stut-t-tter.." he whined.

"Oh, babyyyy.." I chuckled softly, gently cuddling him. "It's okay..."

"You'll get used to it.."
