Despite Gideon's many warnings and pleadings, Pacifica decided to go to the abandoned warehouse on eight-twenty-four on Gopher Road. Gideon eventually gave up trying to convince her not to go, and he instead switched over to her side and stuck with her.

Six-forty-five in the evening found Pacifica and Gideon weaving their way through the forest by the Shack. They didn't have the journal back yet, which made Pacifica nervous, but Gideon assured her that they could get through it. They survived a herd of fairies, he pointed out, so why couldn't they survive a fake psychic?

Gideon stepped on a branch, the noise echoing in the silent forest. "Mabel really has it bad for me," he remarked.

"You think?" Pacifica whispered, her insides turning to jelly. She was as nervous as a mouse cowering in front of a cat - and maybe that was what this situation was. Was Mabel the cat?

She suddenly had a vivid image of splashing water on a hissing Mabel.

"I mean, she's proven herself kind of a psycho. Like I said earlier," Gideon continued. "We broke up - or at least you saved my back and broke us up for me - and what does she do?" He dodged a low branch. "She comes storming to our house and wants to have a duel like in those old-fashioned movies. But you're my cousin! My cousin who found Ford's old journal that's been missing for thirty years. And we survived crazy fairies. You've got this."

"I hope you're right," Pacifica said.

It was nearly ten minutes later when the cousins reached the warehouse - on eight-twenty-four Gopher Road. The warehouse was indeed abandoned - not a light on, giving off an eerie vibe.

"Good luck," Gideon whispered. "You're five minutes early."

Pacifica swallowed. "Here we go," she said under her breath.

Then she pushed open the warehouse's doors.

~

The warehouse was completely dark. The only light was the light from the late evening sun, sifting through the warehouse's dust-covered windows.

Pacifica cautiously made her way onto the dusty floor. She didn't dare make a noise, unless Mabel Marvelous was here before her -

"You're early."

The doors slammed shut.

Pacifica jumped.

Mabel was standing on the balcony in the warehouse, a pink glow emitting from around her. On closer inspection, a gloved hand was slightly touching her amulet, which was glowing.

Mabel Marvelous's amulet was glowing.

Mabel smirked. "Like my amulet? Family heirloom, I'd expect you'd like it."

Without warning, Mabel jumped from the balcony and into the air. Pacifica let out a cry of shock before she could stop herself, but the glow didn't leave the psychic and Mabel remained in the air.

Mabel was floating.

Mabel was floating
