Chapter Two

I change into my chain strap under wire bikini set while Lizzie changes into her black criss cross bikini top with the matching high waisted bikini bottoms. After we are both changed we head to my car with a tote bag that had a towel and a change of clothes for both of us. 

When we get to the pool party at Branden's both sides of the street and the drive way are full of cars. As we were walking I notice that the houses on this block are fancy and all have their own pool. We walk past the side of the house to the back where the gate is and I enter holding Lizzie's hand in mine.

Lizzie drags me all the way to the outside bar and grabs her self a beer. I don't drink even though Lizzies dads are cool with it as long as we are responsible.

After she gets her drink we head to the shallow end of the pool and sit on the edge. I dangle my feet in the pool, while Lizzie sits criss cross next to me and we talk.

After about 20 mins of talking all of a sudden Im picked up and thrown into the pool. Once my feet touch the bottom I shoot back up to see who the culprit is and see Branden and one of his friends laughing. I panic and look for Lizzie, not being able to see her where we were sitting I look down in the water and scream at the boys.

"She's scared of water"

I didn't hear what he said before Branden's friend dove into get her out of the water.

Branden's friend follows Lizzie inside to show her to the bathroom while apologizing as I head to my car to grab our bag.

Once Lizzie is changed I beg her to stay but instead she calls Jack to take her home. I head back outside and Branden waves for me to come to where him and his friends are by the deep end.

As I walk over 'Barbie' gives me the stink eye. Me and Lizzie call her that because she's as plastic as a barbie and has matching blonde hair. We used to be friends tell I told her I had a crush on Branden and the next day she ran up to him at recess and kissed him. For some reason shes hated me ever sense although I didn't do anything wrong. 

Im so pissed off at him for throwing Lizzie into the water even though it could have been a simple mistake. Once I get closer he smiles at me and all my anger is washed away. I sit down and join in on the conversation.

We talked a bit about sports and prom.

"Yo I heard the other school on the outskirts of town is joining our prom this year" one of Brandens friends said and it almost sounded like Branden hissed as he beared his teeth.

"Cassie, have you slept with any of the boys from that school yet?" One of the other girls piped in the conversation talking to Barbie.

"No!" Barbie barks back and heads for another drink. She typically sleeps with everyone.

Eventually while we are all talking Branden rested his arm behind my back.  After a few seconds he ended up rapping his arm around my waist. I could smell the alcohol on his breath as he pulled me closer.

"What time should I pick you up for prom" Branden randomly asked before I leave. I was shocked but happy.

During the drive to Lizzie's I speed a bit and might have passed a few stop signs because of how excited I was to tell Lizzie who I was going to prom with. 

I run in her house as her dads watch tv and read in the living room not even looking up twice to see me. Their used to me running in excited because anytime I have exciting news I run over to tell Lizzie.

Once I get upstairs and to Lizzie's room I barge in and start rambling what all happened after she left.

"Wow, slow down" she says freaked out as she puts her popcorn down and pauses the Note Book.

"Branden asked me to prom" I spit out with little to no air in between the words.

"Omg how was it, did he have a poster of flowers? She ask happy for me.

She sits waiting for a while, as I remember helping Jack with his proposal to Lizzie.

"He just kinda asked but thats fine, it doesnt have to be as big as a 6 foot bear and a poster saying 'I cant bear prom without you" I say with a bit of sadness

"Your going to prom, with Branden" Lizzie says in a serious tone and a sweet smile

We both squeal as a smile creeps back on my face. I cant believe I'm actually going to prom with Branden.

After we talk about how its going to be a wonderful night at prom we put on face mask and head down stairs for more snacks. As we pass the living room one of Lizzie's dads ask what the good news is.

"Branden asked me to prom" I say nonchalantly as I continue walking to the kitchen.

"Wait a minute Zoella Ann Archer, did you just say that your going to prom with Branden? As in your crush Branden?" He ask putting his book down and waking up his husband.

"Zoella is going a prom with Branden, our other little girl is growing up" he says as his husband rubs the sleep out of his eyes while he yawns.

Lizzie grabs my arm and drag me to the kitchen while me and her dad squeal in excitement. 

After I start a bag of popcorn I sit on the Island counter that's in the center of her large kitchen. While she digs in the fridge for more snacks.

Once my popcorn is done and we both have our sodas and snacks we head up stairs to finish The Notebook.
