Monica had her phone pressed between her shoulder and ear as she talked to her mother. "How is Dexter," Cassie asked her. "He was asleep when I got there," Monica said as she opened another box. Where the hell did she put that damn laptop? After MHBI had given back the evidence they didn't destroy, she just threw it in a box and put it into her closet. "How is Daphne doing," She asked next. Monica sighed, "She's kicking herself. She was patrolling the northern part of the Iron Woods when it happened. She was no where near the southern part, but that's not keeping her from blaming herself." Throughout the night she had only received a few texts here and there from her, but they were short and quick.
"So I take it that angel is working on the case," her mother asked. When she said, that angel, she held so much disgust in her voice. Her parents and the MHBI have never gotten along. Especially Zellon Oro. They were on two different fences of the law so they tended to clash a lot. "Yes he is," Monica told her. "I'm going to MHBI headquarters to drop off Myro's laptop once I find it." "You put it in the purple box," Her mother told her, having been there when she had packed it away.
Monica pushed the box in front of her away and poked her head into the closet. She saw the box in the far corner, poking out from under the winter coat that had fallen from its hanger. She pulled it to her and opened it, finding the lap top at the top, "Found, thanks mom." "You're welcome honey. If you start to feel hungry, come home, I'll make sure to find someone acceptable to feed you," she told her. "Will do," Monica said before hanging up. She slipped her wedge sandals on before leaving, her wolf escort waiting for her.
She hated going to the Central District. It was one of the coldest places in the world, and that's not talking about the temperature. In the heart of the Central District was where the executions happened. Most of the executions were either, being shot, crucified, or being beheaded. They tended to televise it as well, to ensure that no one makes the mistake of defying the Halos.
The Halos were the four rulers of Moon Heart. They played judge and jury, while Zellon played executioner. Many wondered what the Halos have over him to be able to control him they way they do, but it had to be something major. Many of the agents at the MHBI reside in the apartments next to headquarters, but Monica knew that many were spread through the other districts to keep an eye on things, even when off the clock. It also allowed for quick response time to get to crime scenes in other areas.
Monica walked up the grey stone steps of the Central District. When she went in, she felt like she was the only colorful thing there with her yellow and white floral sundress. An enchantress sat at the desk. "How can I help you," she asked Monica. She had no emotion in her tone as she spoke. Working in a place like this, it was no wonder, Monica thought. "I'm here to see Zellon Oro," Monica told her. "A gorgeous woman here to see the King of Death, hell must have frozen over," a vampire said. Monica turned to look at him and he halted. "Lady Artfilia," he greeted, becoming serious. "Does your father know you're here?" Monica then recognized him. He was one of the Lord's sons that Monica had met a few times at a gathering her parents had years ago.
"He does. I'm assisting with an investigation," Monica told him. He eyed the wolf escort, behind her. "If you need anything, don't hesitate to reach out," the vampire said before walking away as Zellon came over. Monica turned and held out the laptop, "I hope your tech finds something this time." He took it as he nodded. He wasn't going to promise they will, because he knew this was just going to be a stretch. If they could find even a shred of something that could set them in the right direction, then Zellon was going to take it.
She nodded, "Good luck Flyboy. If you need anything else you can reach me on my cell." She turned on her heel and left, the wolf in tow. Zellon let his eyes trail after her for a moment before turning to take the laptop down to Layla in her tech lab.
