Monica woke up to kisses trailing down her back. She smiled softly, "You're so insatiable." Zellon chuckled, "I have a beautiful goddess for a mate. Of course I'm insatiable." She rolled her eyes as she smiled. He nipped her playfully before getting up to get ready for work. She moved so she could watch him, but she was too tired to get out of bed. It was the first time she had ever felt tired after an intense all nighter. Zellon surely was more than talented in that field.
"Will you be okay staying here by yourself," he asked her as he looked at her. "I'm more than capable of taking care of myself," she told him. "Plus I don't plan on leaving. I'm just gonna lounge around and stuff my face." He leaned down and gave her a sweet kiss. "I'll be home by sundown," he said against her lips. He gave her another quick kiss before leaving.
When he walked into HQ, all eyes were wide as they looked at him. Monica's scent was all over him, and her initials where she marked him, showed proudly on his neck. He made his way through the building to his office where Rigor was sitting behind his desk. Rigor smirked but didn't say anything. Zellon saw a gift bag on his desk. He raised an eyebrow as he removed the tissue paper and saw a bottle of wine with a card. He looked up and saw Rigor wasn't in the office anymore. Zellon opened the card and smiled softly. It was a mating gift from Rigor and his family. Zellon pulled the wine out of the bag and saw it was incredibly old, but delicious. It was one that was made for mated vampires, so when they mixed their mate's blood in it, it'd taste even better.
Zellon put it away and got to work. He went to see Layla's progress at tracking down the man who had once been the warden at the prison. When Zellon went in Layla gave him a smirk, "So not only did you tap that, you mated that. Was she as good as I thought?" "What's your progress with finding him," Zellon asked with his usual cold tone. She huffed, "You're horrible, you know that?" Zellon raised an eyebrow at her and she sighed before turning her attention to her computer. "I found him a few minutes ago," she told him. "It took me forever to find him because he was a john doe in a cold case that Agent Marx Simmons was working on shortly after Myro was killed." "How was he a john doe," Zellon asked her. "Because any identifying features was missing from his body," She explained. "Except for his clan tattoo on the base of his neck. No one in his clan ever reported him missing because he rarely ever made contact with any of his clan members. I did some more in-depth digging into his finances, and turns out his last check from the prison, was never cashed." "Why not do a blood test to figure out who he was," Zellon asked him. "Because what killed him was a demon with a curse spell," she told him. "It altered every inch of DNA. To me, it looks like someone didn't want to risk him opening his mouth after Myro was killed. Rigor is currently tracking down Simmons to get every file on the case as we speak."
Zellon nodded, "Let me know if you find anything else." She nodded, "Will do." He turned to leave. "Congrats Zellon," Layla said, causing him to pause. "Don't let anyone tell you different, but you deserve this happiness the Goddess has given you." He didn't say anything as he left her office and made his way to his own.
Monica was nervous as she made sure everything was cleaned and perfect for when he got home. Her mating gift to him had arrived not long after he left. It was an ash wood pool tablet with a beautiful red felt. She had even ordered a nice set of the billiard balls, and she had got them custom pool sticks. She was sitting on the edge wearing one of his shirts, a pair of yoga pants that went to her knees, and her hair was in a messy bun when he got home.
He stood in the door way shocked. "Surprise," she said, throwing her hands into the air. "What's this," he asked her softly as he came in. "My mating gift to you," she told him. "Of course we're gonna both use it, but I really wanted you to have one." He pulled her to him, kissing her deeply, "I love it. Thank you." She smiled, "You're very welcome." He then held up the gift bag from Rigor, "Rigor and his family wish us an eternal happy mating." She looked inside the bag and smiled, "This would go really good with something chocolate." He smiled, "I was thinking brownies from scratch." She bit her lip, "Sounds perfect."
