(Y/N's POV)

"Is someone in there?" It's a guy. He has some sort of accent that I can't really identify.

I look at my brother. "Hanyu-"

"Don't. They're going to take our stuff and run away." My brother says bluntly.

"I need help, please!" The guy screams out in pain. He's obviously injured.

"Y/N, don't-" I get up and open the door before anything else can be said.

The man comes rushing in, instantly falling back on the couch. His hand is covering a bloody wound on his arm.

"Go get the first aid kit now." I order Hanyu. He simply nods and goes to the kitchen.

I sit next to the injured man. "How did this happen?"

"How do you think it happened? I got shot!" He yell, still in pain.

Hanyu comes back with a first aid kit. I bandage the wound after carefully removing the bullet.

The deep-voice man sighs. "Thank you so much. You're a real lifesaver."

"Letting you die out there would be in humane. I'm just doing what's right." I say.

He nods and looks away for a moment, as if considering something. "I think I have a way of returning the favor."

"How, exactly?" Hanyu says, crossing his arms. He still doesn't trust this guy. "More supplies?"

"Even better." The stranger gets up. "You two really shouldn't be living in some random, beat-up house for the rest of this hell. No, you need something bigger and better. Come with me, and I promise to give you a new base. What do you say?" He outstretches his hand to Hanyu.

"How do we know if we can trust you?" Hanyu glares at the guy. "We just met you."

"What do you think I'll do? Kill you, even though you saved my life?"

"He has a point." I whisper to my brother.

Hanyu's silent for a moment. He drops his arms and takes the stranger's hand, shaking it. "Fine, then. Do we have to bring our own things?"

The man shakes his head. "I believe there's enough stuff already." With that, he walks out of the house, Hanyu and I following along.

"How exactly are we gonna get there?" I ask.

"We'll walk a few blocks to an old laundromat. There, my friends should be able to pick us up."

I nod as we all start walking to another part of the city. Everything's abandoned, broken glass and debris everywhere. As we're walking, I try to remember what this all looked like before the virus. For a split moment, I do. Then the memory quickly fades away. I can't remember much from before the virus, actually.

All I know is that it was something taken for granted.
