Chapter 1

I sometimes wonder how long I have been traveling in wolf form; I would have to say years at the least. I was a rogue from the very first day that ass chose Melinda over his true soul mate; I still remember that day so many years ago- it was my sweet sixteen and my parents had planned out the whole thing. The alpha was like a second father to me, and his son Lukus was a good friend. The party was to be held at the pack house so that everyone could easily fit, I made my way to school as usual and was jumped by my best friend Jace who gave me a big hug and a slobbery kiss on the cheek.

“That was just wrong!” I said disgusted while trying to scrub it off with the back of my sleeve.

“You know you loved it, I mean who wouldn’t.” He smirked, conceited ass. “You are looking rather FINE today; we just might have to extend our friendship from best friends to friends with benefits.” He growled grabbing my butt.

“Don’t think so Jace!” I rolled my eyes as I smacked his hands away, we head over to a group of guys that make up my friends. Not really big on girl relationships, too much DRAMA! All of a sudden I was over taken by a lovely smell; I can only describe it as cologne, outdoors, and all man. “Jace do you smell that?” I whisper taking in the air around me.

“No, maybe one of the guys will know.”

“No, don’t say anything its stupid; but my stupid wolf is going ape shit in my head.” We make it up to the group and they all turn around and wish me a happy birthday, except for one and he looked like he was smelling the air around him. It was Lukus.

‘Mate! Mate! Mine, it’s him!’ She yelped in excitement. He turned around and gave me a sad smile. Right then and there my heart broke into a thousand pieces, I quickly put up the walls around my heart- no one will see my pain. My wolf knew what was coming next and she howled in pain.

“I’m sorry Lakyn, I just can’t. I have been with Melinda for two years; you’ll be fine; you’re as tough as us guys.” He said with a small smile, as Jace just stared at him as if he lost his damn mind.

“Yeah, I’ll be fine.” I forced out, “You just need to say the words to make it official.” By now all the guys in the group were staring, as well as the other were’s in the school yard.

He gives me a nod and a smaller smile, he rubs a tear away before he continues; “I Lukus Blake of the Seaside Pack reject you, Lakyn Choate, as my mate. I’m so sorry.”

“Dude, what the hell are you doing?” One of the guys yelled, “She’s perfect for Luna! You need to take it back, fuck Melinda!”

“It’s okay,” I whisper to him. I glance at all of them; they all have the look of pain on their faces. “I accept it and will not stand in your way to be with Melinda.” I turned to Jace and hugged him with all my heard. “Good-bye, I can’t be here anymore.”

“What do you mean, you can’t leave you’re supposed to be there for me when I get to drunk to move. You have to make sure I don’t sleep with too many hoes, you’re supposed to have my back in a fight.” Tears slowly trailed down his cheeks, “Lukus make her stay,” he pleaded with him but got nothing. “You know he is not the only one capable of loving you!”
