***************************************************************************************************************************

It has been 5 years since the graduation of Miyuki Kazuya, titular catcher and captain of Seidou High School, who after playing with a biannual contract with the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks was recruited to play with the Boston Red Sox in the MLB, where he stayed for two more years, and then receive a tempting offer for the New York Yankees, where he has been a year.

Sawamura Eijun, the young pitcher who with his great effort managed to reach the Ace number since the summer tournament of his second year, has also graduated and currently plays in the Japanese team of the Tokyo Yakult Swallows, where he also managed to get the dorsal number one.

What seems to be a dream life, in which they have managed to achieve their respective goals of becoming professional players, is not so rosy, as both keep a great burden on their heart that, precisely, is unknown to the other: feelings.

The last time they had met was 3 years ago where, along with his closest friends, he said goodbye to Miyuki at the airport, before he left for the United States. While they were all in Japan they saw each other quite often despite being from opposing teams, but it was only in social gatherings where they talked about baseball, about life, about their plans; but there was a theme they never touched: love.

Kuramochi, who played on the same team as Sawamura, felt surprised, because being a close friend of Miyuki and living almost all the time with the pitcher since his years at Seidou, he knew their feelings, it was insufferable for him to see them act so familiarly as they put aside their own feelings, but it was not as if they did not understand their positions, for surely none wanted to hinder the future of the other.

-They are such idiots - those were the words that the short-stop always murmured between one beer and another when they got together. That's right, they were baseball idiots who didn't want to put the other to choose between this sport and love; however, he was convinced that ignoring it was not the solution. This mentality was maintained and, before they realized, time went by without remedy, leaving, one morning, the young man with amber eyes on his knees at the airport, with his hands covering his mouth to silence his tears, while tears came without control, he felt as if his soul was being torn into tiny pieces. On the plane, watching the panorama silently, other tears overflowed behind a pair of glasses, cursing their cowardice again and again, but it was too late ... or maybe not.

The next triennium, as opposed to achievements and results, an immense loneliness loomed over their souls. Unconsciously Sawamura had taken a distance, he did not answer Miyuki's calls or messages, which in turn thought that perhaps it was the best, that oblivion would be liberation, but life would prove otherwise.

Phone call:

-Hello

-Mochi?

-Miyuki? It's you?

-No, I'm your grandmother. Of course, it's me! Hahahaha - the catcher with his characteristic mocking laugh.

-You will be a jerk! In the last year you have practically not communicated and you come with these jokes? Where the hell are you?

-On my way
